#UAAPLXXIX Preview: Far Eastern University

The Far Eastern University had their biggest heartbreak last season 77 that they used as their biggest motivation to bag their 20^th title last season, taking on the charge and braved all the hurdles of season 78 to clinch the title against the top seeded UST three grueling games in the finals.

The Tamaraws also showed that they got one of the best basketball program in the country, not only clinching the UAAP crown last year, but also clinching the titles of the other post season and out of town tournaments they joined.

FEU will welcome the UAAP season 79 bidding adieu to Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, Achie Inigo, Francis Tamsi, RR Pogoy, and Russell Escoto who were all part of the core of the championship team last season. Raymar Jose, and Monbert Arong were the only seniors left in the team of young and inexperienced Tamaraws.

Along with Jose and Arong, Ron Dennison, Joe Trinidad, Prince Orizu, Ken Holmqvist, Ino Comboy, and Richard Escoto are all expected to step up in their game together with the newbies in the UAAP team of the Tamaraws Joseph Nunag, Kenneth Tuffin, Stephen Roxas, and Kimlee Bayquin. Axel Inigo, Gus Denila, and Barkley Ebona are set to return in the UAAP for FEU. 

Coach Nash Racela is now in his fourth year as the head coach of the Tamaraws. Coach Nash knows that this season will be a tough one for FEU, but still he has high hopes that despite the young and inexperienced squad they will show that they are resilient enough to face the tougher teams in the league.

The Tamaraws will rely on their main strength which is their defense, their full court trap leading to their offense, and they will continue to keep on working and improving on their consistency inside the court, 

The Tamaraws will be tested early in the tournament as they will face the early favorites De La Salle University this September 7, 4pm, at the MOA Arena.
