Final Four The Apprentice candidates get their toughest business challenge ever; Chatri Sityodtong rewards them before a double elimination

The Final Four candidates of The Apprentice:ONE Championship Edition candidates did not have to deal with back-breaking physical challenges in Episode 11. They were immediately whisked off instead into arguably the toughest business challenge of the entire season.

In the business challenge, the candidates worked in pairs to help non-profit organizations with their communication strategies, aided by special guest Jeff Lawson, CEO of Twilio, the  leading cloud communication platform that engages customers across various channels (SMS, voice, video, email, WhatsApp and more).

Pinoy bet Louie Sanagalang was paired with Venezuelan Jessica Ramella while American Monica Millington had Russian Irina Chadsey as partner.

To reward the brightest and toughest of the lot, ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong treated the four to a shopping spree at Hugo Boss, a fancy dinner feast, and a one-of-a-kind experience at a live ONE Championship event in Singapore.

Sityodtong, who has an estimated net worth of US$350 million, is the founder of the world’s largest martial arts organization and host of the reality series touted to be “the toughest The Apprentice in history”. One of the four candidates will earn a US $250,000 job offer to work directly as Sityodtong’s business protege and become ONE’s new Chief of Staff.

At this point in the competition, it’s anybody’s game to win as Jessica Ramella, Louie Sangalang, Monica Millington and Irina Chadsey battle it out to become Sityodtong’s “Apprentice.”

Jan Cardines: Naughty and Nice

Summer season is about to end in a few weeks and before we part ways with our guy for the month of May, we are getting to know more of Jan Cardines in this final feature.

Our 22 year old guy for this month is a graduating Civil Engineering student from the Bohol Island State University, Jan originally hails from the City of Baybay in Leyte but after high school he transferred to Bohol to continue his study.

Jan took up Civil Engineering as he always looked up to his father who is into construction business in Bohol, but as a child he dreamt of becoming a fireman.

He plans to either do modeling or join pageants for the mean time as he will wait for quite sometime before he can take the board for engineering because of the pandemic, he wanted to explore first other opportunities and enjoy his younger days.

  1. What kept you busy these days?

- I am an all-around in our house. I wake up in the morning early to cook breakfast for me and my Lola. Then around 8am I am in charge of opening our shop (roofing/steel plate bending shop) then around 11 I cook lunch then open the shop again at 1pm. Then I work out at the afternoon after closing. Then cook dinner. Actually, I am a very busy person haha.

  1. Are you single or taken?

- I am single.

  1. What type of girls are you in? From the Metro or from the province?

- 100% province girls. I like the typical dalagang filipina girl who doesn’t go to parties and are wifey material haha.

  1. How would someone know if you like them?

- I would make effort in talking to them.

  1. What turns you on and what are your major turn offs?

- Being caring really turns me on. It really shows if a girl is a wife material. I also like girls who are malambing ðŸ’¯. What turns me off is when girls are too hard to get, when they drink too much, party too much, being a bitch. The typical bad girl stuff they do.

  1. Craziest/Wildest Thing you’ve done so far

- Got caught in a theater doing the deed hahahaha ðŸ˜ˆ

  1. Biggest insecurity?

-Height. But I don’t really mind that much.

  1. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

- You are different (in a good way)

  1. One thing most people don’t know about you?

- Most of the people think I don’t care because I don’t usually show emotions during times of drama, but deep inside I really care

NCAA Season 96: Rise Up Stronger on June 13

After more than a year after the cancellation of their 95th season due to the pandemic, the oldest collegiate sports league in the country is finally set to make a return as they are ready to rise up against the pandemic and are all set to open their 96th season this June 13.

But don't get too excited yet, because of the still on going pandemic and the strict protocols that the IATF has imposed, the league will just open its doors to limited sports and events that will be done virtually such as online chess, poomsae, and taekwondo.

Contact sports on amateur level are still prohibited by the government, but the league has posted the Basketball and Volleyball in their calendar of events and are still awaiting for approval from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Inter Agency Task Force against emerging and infectious diseases (IATF).

For now, the NCAA considers holding skills based online challenges like a slam dunk challenge, 3 point shootout, who knows if they can pull off a 1 vs 1 basketball tournament just like in the NBL.

For more updates you can watch "Rise Up Together: The Road to NCAA Season 96" primer on GTV everyday, Mondays to Fridays at 2:45pm, Saturdays at 4:30pm and on Sundays at 5pm. Get to know more of your favorite NCAA teams, athletes, and legends in this 21 episode show that already began last Sunday, May 23.

Pinoy Against The World: Louie Sangalang moves closer to The Apprentice top spot

Filipino bet Louie Sangalang faced his toughest week yet on The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition as he was placed on the chopping block for the first time in the unscripted reality series in Episode 10.

Sangalang also dealt with hostility from some of his female co-candidates who questioned his moves and criticized him for not contributing as much as he was expected to.

Only four candidates are competing now for the top prize of a $250,000 job offer as Sityodtong's protégé and chief of staff at the ONE Championship Global Headquarters in Singapore, and Sangalang is not just the only male in the group but the only Asian as well.

The usually unflappable and stoic Pinoy, felt the pressure, however, as he broke down on their way to a soccer game with the children of Boys Town Singapore, one of Sityodtong’s favorite beneficiaries. Sangalang’s human side was not lost on the ONE founder, chairman and CEO who listened to Sangalang’s revelations.

Sangalang said the tribulations he's had in life -- from his battle with cancer to previous personal issues that almost cost him his marriage -- fuel him to give his all in The Apprentice and to make the most of second chances.

"I came into this competition with an all or nothing mindset. If I have to start from nothing again, I know my wife will be there for me. At a point in my life, I made a very huge mistake against my wife. But we saved our marriage. That's what really gets me, that someone can wholeheartedly support you in spite of you having hurt that person in the past. Our relationship is what inspires me to be The Apprentice. There's so many things that I've done wrong in my life and I just want to fix it. I just want to be a much better person. That's the reason why I am so driven by this. I just want to be able to kind of give back," he said.

In the business task, Sangalang was the only candidate who did not volunteer to become project manager in the trade event that would attract clients for the Jakarta International Expo. He vouched instead for Indonesian Paulina Purnomowati to take the lead given her familiarity with the place.

He took the backseat anew and handled research, prompting American candidate Monica Millington to say " Louie might be playing it safe again. I think he can organize and research, but as for the main stuff we've been doing, he can't do most of it. I don't think he's got the creativity.”

Russian Irina Chadsey chimed in, "Louie is the weakest link. When the time comes in the boardroom, we'll have to highlight that at the appropriate moment."

In his defense, Sangalang argued that team performance was paramount. “If you asked me to do creatives, I could have, but it's a matter of who is doing it better than myself, right?"

Sangalang's worries did manifest as the judges, which included Sityodtong, ONE Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy Niharika Singh, CCM Group director Prajna Murdaya, and Jakarta International Expo director Karuna Murdaya, observed his sales pitch to be "very flat, nervous, and a bit stiff."

Thus Sangalang found himself in the bottom three for the first time in the competition, alongside Paulina and Irina. But Louie avoided elimination as it was Paulina who was sent home.

"God or the universe gives the toughest battles to the strongest warriors. Whatever your past is has nothing to do with your future. So dream the biggest dream no matter how crazy it is that you want to do in your life," Sityodtong had told the group at Boys Town.

"You need to shine," other judge Niharika Singh said. "We want somebody who has a clear spike, but who also shows his ability to try out different things that they've not done in the past."

If Sangalang can truly be dynamic and get out of his comfort zone as Singh said, he stands a good chance of being “The One”.

The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition is showing across Asia on AXN, the show’s official Asian broadcast partner, with markets to include Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

The first season of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” consists of 13 episodes and will be seen in the Philippines on Thursdays, 8:50 pm on AXN cable network and on Mondays at 9 p.m. on One Sport.
