The Last Interview: The Mayor Antonio Halili Story

Less than 24 hours before MAYOR ANTONIO HALILI was assassinated while having the flag ceremony at the newly constructed municipal town hall of Tanauan City Batangas, veteran journalist and film director CEASAR SORIANO was able to interview the equally popular and feisty mayor. The interview was supposedly geared towards SORIANO’s plan of making a bio-pic about the life of the controversial mayor. In the said interview, the well-loved mayor poured out his strong staunch about fighting illegal drugs, the controversies surrounding his walk of shame “arade” campaign, his private life and all his dreams and aspirations for his dear town. But by a strange twist of faith, MAYOR ANTONIO HALILI was gunned down by unknown assailant on that dreadful morning of July 1, 2018. But being a good friend that he is, SORIANO still stands firmly to push through with the plan of making the movie.

“THE LAST INTERVIEW:  THE MAYOR ANTONIO HALILI STORY” depicts about the colorful life of MAYOR ANTONIO HALILI told in the point of view  of the last journalist (SORIANO) who managed to have an in-depth interview with the departed mayor.

This movie serves as a tribute for the well-loved Tanaueno who will forever live in his town folks’ hearts.

The movie stars John Estrada as Mayor Tony Halili, also starring  are Ara Mina as Gina Halili, Martin Escudero, Yayo Aguila, Mon Confiado, Michael Flores, Phoebe Walker, Zandra Summer, Kenneth Paul Cruz, and Kate Alejandrino.

“THE LAST INTERVIEW:  THE MAYOR ANTONIO HALILI STORY”  is set to premiere this May 22 in cinemas.

Haiyan FIlm Project "Whether The Weather is Fine" receives a French Film grant.

HAIYAN FILM PROJECT ‘WHETHER THE WEATHER IS FINE’ RECEIVES FRENCH FILM GRANT

Filipino film director and editor Carlo Francisco Manatad’s first feature film project Whether the Weather is Fine (Kun Maupay Man It Panahon) received financing from Aide aux cinémas du monde (France’s World Cinema Support) and Institut Français worth 130,000 euros.

Director Manatad teamed up with producer Armi Rae Cacanindin and co-writers Giancarlo Abrahan and Jeremie Dubois to develop the screenplay and make his first feature film under Cinematografica Films and House on Fire, a production company in France. The film is set in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan in Tacloban.

Aside from acquiring the French film fund, Whether the Weather is Fine was granted Busan’s Asian Cinema Fund for script development in 2014 and Talents Tokyo Next Masters Support Fund in 2017. The project is co-produced by Cinematografica Films, Plan C, House on Fire, Globe Studios, Quantum Films, and AAND of Singapore. It was also presented at the EAVE Ties That Bind 2015, La Fabrique Des Cinema du Monde – Festival de Cannes 2016, TorinoFilmLab – FeatureLab 360 in 2017 (where it eventually received the Co-Production Award), Cinefondation’s L’Atelier 2018, and the Sørfond Pitching Forum 2018.

Since 2014, Director Manatad and his team have been developing Whether the Weather is Fine. They are thrilled their hard work are starting to pay off and come to fruition. At present, they plan to shoot in October this year.

Producer Cacanindin said, “Fifty percent of the grant money should be spent in France. This is a great chance to collaborate with French talents, which we already started with Carlo and Jeremie working together for the script. Because why do we co-produce? It is not just about getting additional funding for our projects, but also about collaborating and learning from each other’s practices, background, and more.”

Aide aux cinémas du monde is a selective fund granted to foreign filmmakers with feature-length projects who seek support from French co-producers. It is co-managed by the Institut français and the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC).

Almost 100 films supported by France’s World Cinema Support were selected during Cannes International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. This year, the Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14 to 25.

Shoot Like A Pro with Vivo V15 Pro

Mobile photography is no longer limited to food shots and selfies. These days, even professional photographers rely heavily on their smartphones when capturing images that evoke a lot of emotions. A photo is a great way to communicate a message or even just to update loved ones of a recent trip.

It may seem such a waste when an extraordinary location is not properly photographed. It's almost an injustice if the colors of a beautiful garden are either too bright or overexposed.

One doesn't have to break the bank to get professional-grade images.

The Vivo V15 Pro's 48MP Triple Rear Camera addresses photography issues such as exposure, lowlight conditions, and sharpness, among others. The camera’s AI (artificial intelligence) component elevates mobile photography experience to the next level with its 12MP standard + 8MP super wide-angle + 5MP depth-sensing camera setup.

With its 48 Million Quad Pixel Sensor, the Vivo V15 Pro offers photography enthusiasts more than just stunning photos. It is almost certain that the photograph will have a crispier and more natural-looking image compared to those taken with lower megapixels.

In travel photography, landscape photos are a must. No portfolio is complete without a shot of the horizon or breathtaking flower fields. Mobile photographers can rely on Vivo V15 Pro's 8MP AI Super Wide-Angle Camera to do the job. Users don't have to change lenses depending on the need of the shot. Just press on the feature and it's ready to immortalize an image. The AI Super Wide-Angle Camera can expand up to 120 degrees, capturing more people and fuller landscape shots.

The 5MP Depth Depth-Sensing Camera will add more drama and effects on the captured image.

To deliver high-quality 12MP images, the Vivo V15 Pro's main rear camera has a 4-in-1 pixel technology. It means that one large pixel is combined with four pixels so that even in low light or even dark conditions, the images will still come out better.

With its Professional Mode feature, the Vivo V15 Pro can pretty much do the work of DSLR cameras.

Users who want to learn photography can practice by enabling the smartphone's Pro Mode capabilities. Adjust the aperture when taking a photo in dark or confined spaces such as hotels or function rooms. Test how the shutter speed works by adjusting it when taking a photograph of a race or moving vehicles. One can also play with the Manual Feature when taking photos of a city skyline — at night.

However, there is Vivo V15 Pro's AI Super Night Mode that can take multiple photos at different exposures. The finished product is a stunning combination of these shots. Night scenes are difficult to shoot, but through this feature, anyone can achieve a clear and beautiful night scene.

This enables images taken with the Vivo V15 Pro to be used in other platforms and not only for social media posts.

Still, for Instagrammers who like sharing their photographs to family and friends and feel limited by the available editing features, the Vivo V15 Pro's Editing Features can help them achieve just the right amount of brightness, contrast, or even saturation in their images.

Limited time offer

Those who want to get the Vivo V15 Pro for its AI camera technology are in for a treat as Vivo is also giving away a set of exclusive perks for those who make advance orders of its latest flagship smartphone.

Customers who pre-order the V15 Pro online until April 11 can score a JBL Clip 3 portable Bluetooth speaker, an extended 6 months phone warranty and can also avail of a screen protection warranty, wherein they will only need to pay P500 to have their damaged or broken screens replaced within 6 months from receiving their pre-ordered units. To pre-order the Vivo V15 Pro today, visit https://vivoglobal.ph/v15preorder/.

The V15 Pro will be available in the local market starting April 12. Vivo will offer the smartphone at 0% interest, thru 6-9 months installment payments using major credit cards and Home Credit, at all participating stores nationwide.

Martin Nguyen's Return And Saruta-Pacio Rematch Headline ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR

Martin Nguyen's Return And Saruta-Pacio Rematch Headline ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR

ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen is coming back, and he’s ready to defend his title in the main event of ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR on 12 April at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. Nguyen will be facing former featherweight kingpin Narantungalag Jadambaa of Mongolia.

Nguyen took over the ONE world in 2017 when he captured a World Championship in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions. He scored exciting one-punch KO wins over Marat Gafarov and Eduard Folayang to earn the belts, and the Vietnamese-Australian martial artist was on top of the world. The year 2018 was a bit more challenging.

Nguyen attempted to drop down to bantamweight to challenge ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes. He came up just short when he lost by split decision in March 2018. Nguyen would rebound with a split-decision victory over Christian Lee in a rematch in May 2018, but the Situ-Asian would lose his second bout of the year in July 2018 when he battled Kevin Belingon for the interim bantamweight title.

The quest for unprecedented greatness might have done a number of Nguyen’s body. He suffered an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the year, the entire first quarter of 2019 and forced him to relinquish the lightweight belt. Now that he is fully healthy and still the ONE Featherweight World Champion, he is ready to return to the cage and defend his title.

Jadambaa is a proven ONE veteran who has compiled a 14-5 record, and he’s been in the cage with the best featherweights in the promotion. In fact, Jadambaa has faced and lost to Gafurov twice by rear-naked choke. The first defeat took place in 2015 and the most recent was in 2016. Jadambaa was set to face Tetsuya Yamada in 2017, but the bout was canceled and the Mongolian wound up sitting out the entire year.

However, he did come back strong in 2018. Jadambaa competed twice in less than a month. He defeated Edward Kelly via second-round TKO on 23 June, and then came back on 13 July to defeat Kazuki Tokudome by decision.

Nguyen won’t be the only competitor potentially suffering from cage rust. Jadambaa will have been out of action for nine months when he steps in with Nguyen. It will be interesting to see if either man shows ill effects from their layoff.

In the co-main event, another ONE World Title will be on the line. Reigning champion Yosuke “The Ninja” Saruta will defend his ONE Strawweight World Title in a rematch with the Philippines’ own Joshua “The Passion” Pacio.

In the first meeting, Saruta stepped in as a late replacement for Hayato Suzuki, who had to bow out due to injury. Pacio seemed to be primed for the rematch with Suzuki after he’d lost to the Japanese veteran in their first bout. It’s possible Pacio took Saruta lightly. It’s also possible Saruta was just better on the night the two men initially clashed. Perhaps it was a combination of both.

In any case, Pacio and Saruta will have a rematch with Pacio having an opportunity to avenge the defeat and regain his title, or the current champion can prove the first win was no fluke.
