Hot Picks: 8th Misters of Filipinas

After four straight months of covering of the four major female pageants in the Philippines, it’s the turn of the male pageantry to showcase what the Filipino male pageant has to offer with the 8th Misters of Filipinas finally this having their grand coronation night on October 30, 7pm, at the beautiful province of Negros Oriental.

Originally, the pageant was supposed to be held last August 10 and was moved back to September 15 until they decide to set the date this October 30.

From the original 30 Misters, they are now down to 26 coming to Negros. This actually had a huge effect in making this list of the Top 15 Misters for this edition.

Let’s start off by explaining how I came up with my Top 15 list. Actually, it will be top 16 but the last one will be the people’s choice based on the different online voting that they had since July. It was also announced back then that there will only be one crown at stake and that’s the Man of the World Philippines and there will be four runners up that will join the sole winner and will possibly be given a title as well.

This “hot picks” is based on the candidates over all look, their introduction videos, on how we interacted and how they answered the questions during our one-on-one interview back in August.

This also includes their performance in the Ethnic Competition, Swimwear Competition, and Preliminaries.

Let’s start with the first five, unlike the past years there will only be one crown at stake this year, the Man of the World Philippines crown. But they said that there will still be five winners that will possibly be given a title in the coming months.

My top choice for the Man of the World Philippines title is Romel Ayag of Caloocan City, Romel who is a fitness coach and an online streamer is I think the most consistent guy in the pageant since it began last July. He’s got the body; he is a good speaker, he’s got the charm, and even though he’s not a pageant veteran I think he can and he will represent the country well in that pageant that’s why he is my top pick for this batch.

My 4 other kings of 8th Misters of Filipinas are Jearu Ed Magbuhat of Batangas, Januarius Paglinawan of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, Derick Lauchengco of Laguna, and Kenneth Aniban of Tondo. I pick these four Misters because I believe they are complete package and I am sure if given a chance to represent the Philippines in any international competition these guys will really raise the flag of the Philippines.

Bubbling up in the rankings are Junichi Yabushita of Cebu City and Josh Dino of Camarines Sur, I’ve had a one-on-one interview with all of the 26 Misters and these two are I think the best speakers and will definitely slay in the question-and-answer portion. Next in line are Jherald Castaneda of Mandaluyong City, Jayson Bardelas of GMA-Cavite (This guy is definitely the Mister Friendship of this batch), and last in my top 10 is Norman Coronel Jr. Of Davao del Norte.

Rounding up my Top 15 Hot Picks are Ed Kevin Tumulak of Cordova, Cebu, Zeus Sado of Tarlac (He is my personal favorite), James Eduard Jaya of Cavite, Lee Zain Jali of Zamboanga City (This guy was a big revelation in the pageant activities in Negros Oriental, he had not much of photoshoots pre pageant, but the guy performed well in the swimswear competition), rounding up my Top 15 is Dexter Tundag of Liloan, Cebu.

I’ll include also Felixander Dalupang of Isabela, Jomarl Pabalan of Pampanga, and Nadim Elzein of the Filipino Community of UAE in this Top Picks (Since there will be a 16th Misters that will enter via fan voting.), these two guys I consider them as the dark horse of the competition and they could just spoil the top picks.

To end this, choosing the hot picks for this Misters is quite harder than I expected, but any of these 26 guys are deserving who ever will win the pageant night that will happen on October 30, 7pm, in the province of Negros Oriental.

You can watch the grand coronation night live on the Youtube channel of PEPPS TV.
