Vaughn Piczon: Cruising Through The Stars

Love Beneath The Stars had just wrapped up last month, after a roller coaster 6 episodes of the sequel series of the 2020 MMFF hit movie "Boy Foretold By the Stars", finally Luke and Dominic played by Keann Johnson and Adrian Lindayag were able to endure the challenges that they had to face in the series and reach a happy ending for them.

But there's this one character that really did put a spice on their story and he is Gio, the President of the Student body and Dominic's childhood bestfriend. I will be honest here, if not for him I wouldn't be that hooked to the series and I think his character deserves more. But who is Gio in real life?

Our guy for this month of October is Gio of the series Love Beneath The Stars played by Vaughn Piczon.

Vaughn started out his acting career way back in college, he was a member of the FEU Theater Guild until he graduated with a degree in Mass Communication in 2014. But things didn't go the way Vaughn wanted as opportunities in the entertainment scene became elusive for him he decided to shift his plans a little bit.

He shared that he was actually a late bloomer when it comes to acting, he just fell in love with the craft when he entered FEU's theater guild. He was inspired by Broadway musicals he listens to when he was en route to Manila for college, he just found himself loving these musicals and he thought of it as an interesting path.

As opportunities in theater became difficult to find, he found himself a bit frustrated seeing fellow FEU Theater Guild artists making it big in showbiz, Vaughn found himself at that point where he is torn between pushing forward of his dream to make it big in showbiz and sidelining it and choose the option to work in a cruise ship and he chose the latter and for almost three years he worked there as a performer and a host, he said that it was the closest he can be with his passion and craft and for him it was hitting two birds with one stone, he was able to provide for his family and still was able to enjoy the perks of his work.

But after a long time in the cruise, Vaughn felt that he isn't growing as a person and as a performer, he somewhat felt tired of doing the same routines for almost three years, he wanted to try something new or at least try to go back to his first love which is acting. He shared that he even asked for a sign if he will resign in the cruise or he will stay and the sign that he asked was for his sister to get a scholarship grant for college and from there the stars aligned and his sister got in to the scholarship program and Vaughn went home and tried his luck again.

He went home late 2019, but pandemic struck and showbiz was greatly affected by it, but the stars aligned for him once more as he was tipped by his friend Yesh Burce to audition for the role of Gio for Love Beneath The Stars and luckily he was chosen for the role and the rest was history.

Transitioning from Theater to TV was a little bit tricky for Vaughn, as there's a huge difference between the two specially when it comes to how actors play and move and it he admitted that he adjusted big time from the stage to camera, thanks to his director, Direk Dolly, he was able to adapt to his new medium and he was able to portray the role of Gio perfectly.

Vaughn's take away in his journey towards his dream was if it is meant for you, it is meant for you. You just need to work hard and wait for the right and perfect timing, as to what they say God always has that perfect timing, there might be delays, but just trust the process and everything will be worth the wait.

After Love Beneath The Stars, Vaughn is set to be part of the teleserye "Love in 40 Days" from Dreamscape, he will star along with Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio, the new serye is set to start it's production early 2022.
