#UAAPLXXIX Day 5: Ateneo Foil Tamaraws Late Surge, La Salle Dominate Growling Tigers


The Ateneo Blue Eagles foils the late resurgence of the FEU Tamaraws to bounce back to the winning column 76-71.

The Blue Eagles were off to a hot start as they were able to capitalize the misfiring FEU to take an 18-10 lead to start the game. In the second period the Tamaraws were able to get their shooting in sync again, though they still trail behind 27-37 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Ateneo continues to control the pace of the game that kept the Tamaraws away from them as they end the third period up 58-47. In the final period the Tamaraws show their resiliency as they began to erase the lead of Ateneo to  tying the game at 66-all, though Ateneo were able to retake the lead as they were able to stop the charge of the Tamaraws to secure their win.

Thirdy Ravena led the flight of the Blue Eagles having 17 points, followed by Adrian Wong and Jolo Mendoza with 13 and 10 points each. Ateneo is now at 1-2 record.

Inno Comboy had his best game so far as a Tamaraw having 20pts, meanwhile two other Tamaraws were able to score a double-double, Raymar Jose had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Prince Orizu with 16 points and 16 rebounds. FEU goes 1-2 after this game.

The DLSU Green Archers slaughtered the hapless UST Tigers 100-62.  The Green Archers totally dominated UST in this game starting the game with an early 23-19 lead in the first period that ballooned as high as 41 points in the final period.

The Growling Tigers had their worst game at the worst time as they were defenseless in this game, giving away 40 turnovers that La Salle turned into 34 points, They were also out rebounded having 9 offensive rebounds against the 29 of La Salle,

La Salle had four players who scored in double digit they were led by Ben Mbala with 18 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Jeron Teng with 13 points, Thomas Torres with 11 points, and Abu Tratter with 10 points.

Renzo Subido was the lone bright spot for UST as he led his team again with 18 points after playing 29 minutes, Jon Sheriff added 11 points.
