#NCAA92 Day 33: San Sebastian and Letran ends season 92 with a win


The San Sebastian Golden Stags ended the season with a rout over the JRU Heavy Bombers 85-58. The Stags ended the second round with a 7-2 record, a more impressive run compared to their 1-8 first round record to end the season  with 8-10 record.

The Golden Stags came into the game wanting to end the season on a high note, they started off with an early 21-17 lead over the uninspired Heavy Bombers squad, the Stags even extended their lead up in the second period as JRU's game continues to drop giving them a huge 42-29 lead at the end of the first half. 

Going to the second half, the Heavy Bombers were still having a hard time catching up with the consistent game of  the Stags extending their lead up 63-45. The Stags out rebounded the Heavy Bombers having a 53 rebounds/24 offensive rebounds against the 24 rebounds/3 offensive rebounds that pave the way for the San Sebastian to dominate JRU. 

Allyn Bulanadi top scored for the Stags with 14 points, while Ryan Costelo and Michael Calisaan both had 13 points, and Alvin Capobres added 12 points. Graduating ace guard Paolo Pontejos led JRU with 14 points, while Abdoul Poutouchi added 10 points as the Heavy Bombers ends the season with a 9-9 record.

Even though they fell short in defending their throne, still the Letran Knights were able to end season 92 on a high note after outlasting the EAC Generals 93-87. 


It was a tit for tat ball game as both squad exchanges n taking the lead, with the first period going to the side of the Knights with a slim 17-14 lead, the Generals however was able to take the lead in the second period to end the first half up 35-33. 

Going to the second half the Generals tried to pull away, taking a 48-42 lead midway of the third period, but still the Knights were able to climb back to tie the game and took over the lead at 56-54. 

In the final period it was the turn of the Knight to try to pull away taking a 72-62 lead, even maintaining it to 77-66 lead with less than a minute left in the game, but the Generals staged a comeback and force an overtime. 

In the over time period the Knights quickly grabs the lead at 89-84, the Generals were able to cut the lead at 87-89, but the breaks of the game went to the side of Letran foiling the comeback of EAC. 

Jom Sollano led the Knights with 21 points and 12 rebounds, Rey Nambatac added 15 points, and John Quinto had 12 points as Letran ends their season with a 9-9 record. 

Hamadou Laminou had 23 points and 18 rebounds, while  Sidney Onwubere added 23 points, Francis Munsayac had 12 points for the Generals as they finish the season with a 6-12 record.
