Adamson Unversity opens the season 79 of UAAP on a high note, with Rookie Jerrick Ahanms showing the way for the Soarng Falcons in defeating the UP Fighting Maroons 104-85.
Predicted to be the Dark Horse of the season the Adamson Falcons showed early dominance over UP as they lead 28-18, though the Fighting Maroons were able to fight back in the second period still Adamson was dominating the game to end the first half still up 46-38.
In the second half the Adamson Falcons soar higher leaving UP struggling down to catch up with them finishing the third period 73-57. the Fighting Maroons kept fighting in the final period, but Adamson managed to pull away in the final minute of the game to secure their opening game victory.
Jerrck Ahansimi showed a very promising start for the Falcons scoring 28 points, he is 10/11 in the field and 6/7 in the three point area. Robbie Manalang and Dawn Ochea added 16 and 13 points respectvely for Adamson.
The 24 point output of Paul Desiderio wasn't enough to give the Fightng Maroons an opening victory.

Aaron Black led the Ateneo Blue Eagle in their 73-69 win against this seasons host UST Growling Tigers. Black had 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in this game.
Though the Blue Eagles trailed early in the game finishing the first period down 14-17, but going into the second period, Ateneo was able to tie the game at 34-all to end the first half.
The seesaw battle between the two squads continue in the second half, as nobody gives way for another team to make a run, the thrd perod ended with Ateneo on top 52-51.
Entering the fourth period the Blue Eagles were able to put up a slight cushion early in the fourth to take a 66-53 from that point UST struggled to answer back.
Helping Aaron Black is Thirdy Ravena with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Ateneo, meanwhle Louie Vigil scored 21 points for the Host School, while Jan Macasaet added 12 points.

In the women's division of the UAAP, the Adamson Lady Falcons defeated the UP Fighting Maroons 66-61, Kay Pingol and Jamie Alcoy topped the scorers for Adamson with 12 and 11 points each, while Patricia Pesquera led the Lady Maroons with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Antonia Wong added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
In the second game the The Ateneo Lady Eagles beats the UST Tigresses 65-57, Katrina Guytinco and Jonette Uy De Ong led the Lady Eagles with 12 points each, with Guytinco having 10 rebounds as well. Bettina Penaflor and Shanda Anies led the Tigresses with 16 and 15 points each in losing efforts.
