#UAAP78 Day 8: La Salle Gets Second Win, FEU Uses Fourth Quarter Charge To get Third Victory



In the first game of the Sunday game day of UAAP Season 78, the De La Salle Green Archers completely dominated the Adamson University Falcons in their game yesterday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Green Archers though started the game slow still were able to hold on a solid first quarter to dictate the pace of the game as they led Adamson 24-10 at the end of the first period, La Salle continues to shoot down the Falcons as they outscored as the deficit ballooned to 21 at the end of the first half 47-26. 

Entering the second half Adamson's struggles continue as the lead of the Green Archers ballooned to 26, 30-56 after a big three by Thomas Torres with 7 minutes left in the third, though the Falcons were able to trim down the lead of La Salle at 47-63 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter Adamson were able to cut the lead of the Green Archers at 70-81 entering the last 2 minute mark of the game, but however La Salle were able to maintain the lead to capture their second victory of the season sending Adamson down to 0-4.   

Jeron Teng and Thomas Torres combined 34 points for the archers in winning this game, this also marks the best game of Thomas Torres after his ACL injury. Meanwhile, Pappi Sarr led the scoring for Adamson with 18 points.

Adamson Soaring Falcons 71:

Even with a huge 20 turnovers the Far Eastern University Tamaraws held on to their experience as they fend off the UP Fighting Maroons 75-58 in the second game of the Sunday games of the 78th season of the UAAP. 

The Fighting Maroons started strong early in the game as the FEU had a hard time to read UP's pesky defense to take an early 6-3 lead with 6 minutes left in the opening period, but the Tamaraws made a 10-2 charge to end the first quarter 13-10 in favor of FEU. 

In the second period turnovers bugged FEU early as the Fighting Maroons closed in to 13-11 with 9 minutes remaining, as the quarter progresses a scoring drought hit both squads as the next basket made was a back to back basket from FEU to increase the lead to 17-11 with 6:30 remaining in the first half. UP made a run to take the lead at 23-21 with less than 2 minutes remaining. FEU didn't let the Fighting Maroons take a huge lead ending the first half 28-29. 

FEU again took over a 34-31 lead early in the third period, but the Fighting Maroons regains the lead at 40-43 with 3:40 left in the period, that was the last time UP gets a hold of the lead in the game as the Tamaraws takes the third quarter with a 51-45 lead. 

Entering the fourth quarter the Tamaraws unleashes their full charge as they slowly but surely pull away in the last period of the game taking the lead as high as 16 points entering the last two minute mark of the game, FEU outscores UP in the fourth quarter 24-13 to take their third victory. 

Raymar Jose is the silent operator of the game for FEU with a double- double performance of 11 points and 13 rebounds, three other Tamaraws scored in double digit namely Mike Tolomia with 11 points, Achie Inigo and Roger Pogoy both with 10 points. 

On the side of UP, Jett Manuel and Diego Dario combines 26 points for the Fighting Maroons in losing efforts as they slide down to 2-2.
