#UAAP78 Day 4: UE and Ateneo Bounces Back



In the first game of the Saturday games of the 78th season of the UAAP held at the Mall of Asia Arena, the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles beats the Adamson Falcons 80-64

The Adamson Falcons kept the first half of the game close ending the first half at 34-30, but coming in to the second half, the Blue Eagles already started to pull away as they outscored the Falcons 62-48. It was a was a blowout win by Ateneo after they were beaten badly by FEU in their first game

Aaron Black was a big surprise for Ateneo, pouring in 11 points in this game to help Kiefer Ravena and Von Pessumal in the scoring department both scoring 24 and 12 points respectively in this game, Black didn't not played n their opening game.

Meanwhile, Papi Sarr top scored for Adamson with 13 points as the Falcons dropped to 0-2 to start the season.

In the second game, the University of the East Warriors stuns the defending champions National University Bulldogs 76-71.

The Red Warriors were able to capitalize the sluggish state of the Bulldogs early in the game as they were able to put up a 20-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, though in the second quarter the Bulldogs were able to erase the lead of UE and take over the driver seat after a late run by NU in the  second quarter to end the first half 32-37.

In the third quarter the NU Bulldogs were able to extend their lead to 33-41, but suddenly the Red Warriors took a 9-0 run with rookie Edson Batiller pouring back to back threes to tie the ball game at 41-41 with less than 6 minutes remaining in the quarter,

UE's run extends as the defense of NU continues to struggle only scoring 9 points in the third as the Red Warriors outscored them pouring in 28 points to end the third period 60-46. In the fourth period the Bulldogs tried to make a comeback as they trimmed the lead down to 75-71 after a three by Paolo Javellona but the run of NU came late with only 6 seconds left in the game.

Rookie Edson Batiller again led the Red Warriors in this game scoring 23 points as UE gets to the winning column, meanwhile Gelo Alolino's 23 points and Paolo Javelona's 16 points didn't suffice for the NU Bulldogs as they dropped their second straight game to start the season at 0-2.

NU Bulldogs 71:
