#NCAA91 Day 33: Perpetual Goes 11-3, San Sebastian Stuns The Defending Champs

The University of Perpetual Help solidifies their chances to get a twice to beat advantage in the final four races after pounding off the hapless EAC Generals 89-53 in their heated match last Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan for the Tuesday action of the 91st season of the NCAA.

Both teams started hot in the game as they end the first quarter 14-12 in favor of the Perps, but in the second quarter the Altas started to pull away as the shooting of the Generals is struggling to get close to the first half 39-30. 

In the third quarter is where the Altas pulled away big time as the latter provided a scoring spree to outscore EAC 64-41, In the fourth quarter a huge 10-0 run of the Perps gave them a more comfortable 74-41 lead. At that point two players from both teams got involved in an altercation namely EAC's Max Diego and UPHSD's  Nicko Cabiltes, both players got thrown out of the playing court as the game came to an end. 

Gerald Dizon top scored for the Altas providing 18 points in this win, adding to that is Earl Thompson's another triple-double performance of 10 points, 13 assists and 14 rebounds. Meanwhile, Christ Mejos and Joshua General provided 24 combined points for EAC in losing efforts.

*Update Nicko Cabiltes of Pepetual Help, and Max Diego and Raymund Pascua of EAC are all served with 1 game suspension after the altercation. 

In the second game the San Sebastian Stags stuns the defending champions, San Beda Red Lions 98-92. 

San Sebastian started the game hot leading the Red Lions  by as much as 8 points early in the game at 23-15 though San Beda was able to get close at the end of the opening period 27-23, but the Stags continue to dominate in the second period, even with San Beda trimming the deficit by a single point Baste's Bradwyn Guinto provided a series of unanswered points to make a 38-31 lead with 4:50 left in the first half, but again even they are trailing behind the Red Lions didn't let the Stags pull away as they end the first half 49-45. 

Entering the second half a more aggressive Art Dela Cruz power the Red Lions to take the lead 73-74 at the end of the third quarter, San Beda were able to maintain a thin cushion against the Stags, but entering the last 5 minutes of the game San Sebastian takes back the lead at 87-83 to finally seal the upset for San Beda. 

Bradwyn Guinto and Michael Calisaan combined 47 points for San Sebastian in winning this match, meanwhile, Art Dela Cruz's 30 point performance didn't materialized as San Beda slides down to a triple tie at number 1 spot.

San Beda Red Lions 92: Dela Cruz 30, Adeogun 17, Tankoua 10, AMer 9, Soberano 8, Mocon 7, Sorela 4, Presbitero 3, Koga 2, Tongco 2.
