#UAAP78 Day 6: UE Gets Back To Back Win, Ateneo Escapes Double OT



In the first game of UAAP's Wednesday double header at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the University of the East Red Warriors shoots down the Adamson Soaring Falcons 89-78.

The Red Hot UE Warriors started the game hot, leading the Adamson Falcons 11-5 with 6 minutes left in the first period, but going into the next minutes in the first, the Falcons soars high as Nico Capote led a run for Adamson after back to back long three to take a 26-20 lead over UE.

In the second period the Red Warriors were able to catch up and make a 10-0 run against Adamson to take the lead 39-30 with 3:30 left in the second, but the Falcons made a 0-9 run of their own to close in the first half at 44-41.

At the start of the third period, the Falcons were able to get close at 46-45 but UE's offense is just unstoppable as they were able to regain a cushion  as they take another 5 point lead 51-45 with 6 minutes left in the third. Entering the two minute  mark of the third period Adamson finally able to tie the game again at 55-all but again UE were able to get the lead back to end the third at 63-57.

In the fourth period UE is now all over Adamson as the latter's defense made hard for the Falcons to catch up as the Red Warriors were able to pull away to take win number 2 and kept Adamson still win less after 3 outing

UE's Super Rookie Edson Battiler again scored 23 points for the Red Warriors in winning this game, adding to that is Paul Varilla's 14 points, Meanwhile, another rookie JD Tungcab top scored for Adamson with 16 points, while Nico Capote added 15 points, 12 points came from the first quarter all are three point shots.

Adamson Falcons 78:

In the second game, Kiefer Ravena saves the day for Ateneo as the reigning MVP was the key to a huge comeback by Ateneo to beat the defending champions NU Bulldogs 74-70 after two grueling overtime.

It was almost a win for the defending champions as they lead the Blue Eagles 57-54 with 14 seconds left in the game, but a huge defensive lapse by Gelo Alolino caused the NU Bulldogs a fortune as Hubert Cani takes the ball back to Kiefer Ravena  as he was able to fire a three to tie the game 57-all to send the game into overtime.

In the first Overtime Period, Fatigue starts to come in for both squads as they struggle to score with 2:35 left in the game, the first basket was made by Toci Tansinco for the Bulldogs to take a 59-57 lead with less than two minutes left, Ateneo were only able to make a single basket in the overtime as NU led the game 62-60 but again another clutch play by Kiefer Ravena ties the game at 62-62 to force another overtime period.

In the second overtime finally Ateneo were able to secure a safe lead at 68-64 with only 1:23 left in the game, but Gelo Alolino still eager to win the game closed in the Bulldogs at 72-70 with 7.2 seconds left, but again, Kiefer Ravena was there to seal the win for the Blue Eagles as they tamed the Bulldogs to remain win less after three games.

Kiefer Ravena scored 21 points for the Blue Eagles in winning this game, meanwhile, Gelo Alolino scored 19 points for the Bulldogs in losing efforts.
