The defending champions National University Bulldogs dismantles the UP Fighting Maroons 68-52 in their game last Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Extending their winning streak to three, the NU Bulldogs started the game with a 19-12 lead over UP in the first period, going in the second quarter the Fighting Maroons fights back closing in 24-23 with less the four minutes left in the first half, but NU made a quick work making an 8-0 run to finish the second quarter leading 38-27.
Entering the second half the NU Bulldogs becomes more aggressive as Gelo Alolino started to get on fire as he started to shoot threes that gave UP a hard time catching up in the game leaving them behind 51-43 at the end of the third period. The Maroons continue to struggle in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs already imposed a comfortable lead to secure their third straight victory.
Gelo Alolino led the defending champions with 16 points, adding to that is Alfred Aroga's double double performance of 12 points and 22 rebounds. Meanwhile Jett Manuel and Paul Desiderio combined 26 points for the Fighting Maroons in their third straight loss.

In the second game the UST Growling Tigers roars back to beat the Ateneo Blue Eagles 68-58 to grab a share of the top spot.
Ateneo started the first quarter leading the tigers 9-4 with 5 minutes left in the quarter but UST were able to end the first on top 9-12. Entering the second quarter the Blue Eagles became more aggressive as they were able to get the lead back again 17-15 with 7 minutes left in the game, but UST didn't let the Blue Eagles fly too far as they end the first half 30-26.
In the second half Ateneo looking to pull away as their shooting of was unstoppable to leave UST behind by as much as 10 points to end the third quarter 58-48. The fourth quarter was unexpected as Ateneo began to fall as they struggle to make a basket that lets UST to make a quick 26-6 run to take the win away from the Blue Eagles.
Kevin Ferrer led the late fourth quarter surge of the Tigers scoring 27 points in the game, meanwhile Von Pessumal and Kiefer Ravena's combined 32 points didn't get Ateneo the win.
