#NCAA91 Day 26: Letran Gets Back On Top, CSB With A Huge Win, Arellano Prevails In Over Time

In the first game of the Friday Triple header of the 91st season of the NCAA, the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights regains the share of the top spot after defeating the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates 74-57.

A huge fourth quarter run by Letran saves them from an almost upset being put up by by Lyceum early in the fourth after getting a 8-2 run to turn the 47-42 lead at the end of the third period to a 49-50 lead against the Knights, but Mark Cruz sparked a huge 23-3 run late in the fourth to stun the Pirates 72-53 with less than two minutes remaining.

Mark Cruz poured in 8 triples in this game to lead the Knights with 26 points, adding to that is Kevin Racal's 19 points. Meanwhile, Victor Nguidjol led the Pirates with 20 points, The Pirates now dropped to 3-9, while Letran grab the share of the lead with San Beda both at 10-2.

Lyceum Pirates 54: Nguidjol 20, Baltazar 14, Lugo 6, Lacastesantos 4, Alanes 4, Ayaay 4, Bulawan 3, Taladua 2. 

In the second game, the College of Saint Benilde Blazers finally notches a huge win after a series of loss after their dominant win against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals 81-57.

The Blazers started hot in the game ending the first quarter with a commanding 17-9 lead over the Generals to dictate the pace of the game in favor of CSB, the lead ballooned to 19 points at the end of the first half at 37-18,

EAC's defense and offense got worst entering the third frame as they were only able to score 13 points, while CSB is unstoppable producing 23 points to extend their lead to 60-31 at the end of the quarter. In the last period the Generals tried to stage a comeback out scoring the blazers in that quarter, though they were outscored in the last quarter the Blazers maintained their huge lead to secure the win.

Rookie Jayjay Domingo led CSB producing 16 points to get win number three for the Blazers. Francis Munsayac top scored on the side of EAC producing 15 points.

In the final game of the Friday Triple Header of the NCAA, Arellano University Chiefs avenges their first round loss against the University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta Altas after defeating them in overtime 84-77.

It was a really close battle as both teams exchanges lead in every quarter, in the fourth frame Perpetual Help was comfortably leading at 65-58 with 6 minutes left in the game, but Arellano were able to make a run to tie the game at 68-68 to force an overtime. In the next 5 minutes the chiefs dominated the Altas to take the win. Both squads are tied at the #3 and #4 spot with 8-4 record.

It was a battle between two of the best guards in the league, namely Jovanie Jalalon and Scottie Thompson as they both not only top scored for their respective team, but also they both put up triple double stats at the end of the game. Jovanie Jalalon scored 32 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists for the Chiefs, while Scottie Thompson made 24 points, 11 assists and 12 rebounds.
