#UAAPLXXIX Day 15: UE and UP Notch Second Win


The University of the East notches their second win after they overwhelm the struggling UST Tigers 71-61. The Red Warriors started the game red hot leaving UST behind with a commanding 23-13 lead, UE continues to dictate the pace of the game going to the second period as the agony continues for the Tigers as they go down 27-41, they committed 23 turnovers at the end of the first half. 

Entering the second half, UST was able to atleast caught up with the Red Warriors as they were able to out score them in the third period to cut a bit of the lead of UE to 47-59. Going to the final period the Tigers continues to chase the lead of the Red Warriors down, but to no avail UE was just in it to win it as they kept UST at bay the whole game.

The Tigers ball handling became their biggest hindrance in this game, committing 32 turnovers, giving away 26 points for UE. 

Mark Olayon was the sole Red Warrior to score in double digit with 14 points to help his team get win #2 to move up to #6 forcing a triple tie in the last three spot. Veteran Tiger Louie Vigil led his team in losing efforts with 21 points, UST drops to #8 after this game.

The University of the Philippines upset the Ateneo de Manila University in a tight 56-52 match. Even though the Blue Eagles were able to start the game with a 9-4 lead, the Maroons were still able to catch up to end the opening period 10-11. 

Going to the second period, UP kept the game close, as both teams struggle to find rhythm inside the court ending the first half tied at 23. In the third period it was another tit for tat battle as both teams exchanges turns in taking the lead, but at the end of the third UP manages to take over the lead 41-39. 

In the final period, Ateneo tried to steal the win away from the Maroons as they were able to erase the seven point deficit to closed in at 50-51, but Jett Manuel has other things in mind as he pulls a cold blooded three point shot to ice the game. 

Jett Manuel led the Fighting Maroons in winning the battle of Katipunan, having 15 points, meanwhile Adrian Wong and Chibueze Ikeh combined 21 points for the Blue Eagles as they dropped to 4-4.
