The Malayan Red Robins soar high this season 92 as they finally put a stop to San Beda Red Cubs dynasty in the juniors division of the NCAA after a dominant 84-67 victory.
The Red Robins aggressiveness puts them ahead in the opening period, pushing San Beda down early in the game at 9-18, Malayan continues to dominate extending their lead up 24-13 at the end of the opening period.
The Red Cubs continues to struggle in the second period as they went down to 17-33 midway of the quarter, the Red Robins kept on pulling away in the second period to take a 38-24 lead.
Malayan kept their lead up in the third period as they established a commanding 23 point lead, the biggest lead of the Red Robins in this match. The Red Cubs though were able to cut the lead down to 12 at 40-52 at the end of the third.
San Beda looked tired of chasing the lead of the Red Robins down, as they slowed down giving Malayan the chance to pull away again and secured their double digit lead to finally took over the game and the championship.
Six Red Robins scored in double digits in this game with Brian Lacap leading the scorers with 16 points, Clint Escamis with 14 points, Finals MVP Bryan Samudio with 13 points, Juaqin Garcia with 12, Jasper Salenga with 11 and Warren Bonifacio with 10 points and 15 rebounds.
On the side of the Red Cubs, Carlo Obenza and Addie Velasquez topped the scoring with 14 points each, while Germy Mahinay with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Sam Abuhijleh with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
