Miss Puerto Rico Heilymar Rosario Velasquez was crowned the new Miss Intercontinental 2016, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Many said it was the home court advantage that brought Miss Sri lanka Tracy Silva to bag the Miss Asia-Oceania over Miss Philippines and Thailand who were both top favorites, the latter finished first runner up.
Another controversial moment in the pageant was the way they chose the Third and Second Runner via on the spot judges voting, Miss Ghana Silvia Commodore bagged the second runner up position after winning the majority of the judges with six out of 10 judges, while Floriana Ruso of Italy was placed as third runner up.
Miss Venezuela Amal Karina Emer placed fourth runner up, another boo boo in the pageant happened in the Q&A as the interpreters of Miss Venezuela and Italy had a hard time translating the answers of the candidates.
Our very own Miss Philippines Jennifer Hammond though was snubbed she was a total stand out in the pageant finishing in the top 15.
