The San Beda Red Lions seized the first game of the best of three finals after they beat the Arellano Chiefs in a tight 88-85 game one of the 92nd season of the NCAA at the MOA Arena.
Aggressive, that's one word to describe how San Beda opened the game one of the finals, taking an early 28-20 lead in the opening quarter.
The Red Lions continues their scoring romp in the second period, giving Arellano a hard time catching up in the game as they pushed their lead up to a 38-28 deficit. though the Chiefs were able to recover to closed in at 49-54 at the end of the first half.
Entering the second half, the Red Lions reclaim their double digit lead after 8-2 run to take a 52-41 lead midway of the third period, but the Chiefs were able to chase down the lead of San Beda down to 70-69 to end the third.
The game intensifies as it get in the final period as Arellano was able to keep the game close, even though San Beda was doing everything they can to protect their slim 5 point advantage early in the final period 80-75, but the Chiers were successful in making their comeback as they took over the lead 85-84 in the final two minutes.
But Robert Bolick of San Beda saves the day as he snatched the lead back to their side after a 1:24 in the game, it iced the Chiefs at 75 as Jalalon and Holts failed to score giving the Red Lions the chance to seal game one on their side.
Peaking at the right place at the right time, Robert Bolick proves that he is more than just a bench player after leading the Red Lions in their game one victory, having 24 points and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile Jiovani Jalalon's 21 point output didn't materialized for the Chiefs as they go down 0-1.
