The San Beda Red Lions barged in to the finals of the NCAA for the eleventh straight season after outlasting the Perpetual Help Altas 78-63 at the Mall of Asia Arena awhile ago.
The Perps had an early romp in the game, taking a 24-15 lead in the first period. The Red Lions were able to take a 12-2 run early in the second period to take over the lead at 27-26, though the Perps were able to retake the lead at 30-27 and kept the game, close the Red Lions still were able to take over the quarter after a 10-0 run to end the first half up 37-30.
The second half was quite a struggle for both squads as they both had a hard time scoring, but still San Beda was able to outscore the Altas after a 19-14 third quarter output to push their lead up 56-44 at the end of the third.
Going to the final period, the Red Lions takes full control of the game, dominating the Altas in the whole quarter even extending their lead as high as 20 at 77-57 with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
Javee Mocon led the Red Lions in their eleventh finals appearance after a huge 12 points and 15 rebounds performance in this game, Davon Potts added 16 points, while Robert Bolick had 14 points which he all scored in the first half.
Gab Dagangon had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Altas in losing efforts, rookie Daryl Singontiko added 11 points.
The San Beda Red Lions sets up a rematch against their season 90 nemesis Arellano Chiefs, the best of three finals begins this Thursday, 3:45pm, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
