#NCAA92 Juniors: 10/4/16


The San Beda Red Cubs barges in to the finals again after outlasting the Arellano Braves in their second meeting in the semis of the juniors basketball of NCAA held at the MOA Arena.

The feisty Red Cubs were already fiery at the start of the game, starting off the opening period with a 28-17 lead, eager to get back to the Braves that erased their twice to beat advantage and pushed them on the verge of elimination San Beda pushes their lead up to 24 to end the first half up 61-37.

In the second half, the Red Cubs extends their lead up to 30, the highest for this match, though Arellano was able to outscore the Red Cubs in the third to trim the deficit down to 67-83.

In the final period the Braves continues to chase down the lead of San Beda, building up momentum on their side the Braves were able to came as close as 85-91 with 3:46  remaining in the game. 

But the Red Cubs were able to respond quickly to the challenge of Arellano as they were able to extend their lead back up to ten entering the final seconds of the game, securing their return to the finals and continue their campaign to take their 8 straight championship. 

Six Red Cubs scored in double figures in this game, they were led by Robi Nayve with 17 points, Mark Lagumen had 16 points, Joshua Tagala and Carlo Obenza added 15 points each, Germy Mahinay and Peter Alfaro scored 13 and 10 points respectively for San Beda.

Carlo Abadeza led the five Braves who scored in double digits, having 19 points, Aaron Fermin followed with 15 points, #1 Juniors Player Guilmer Dela Torre added 13 points, Lars Sunga and Ira Batiller had 11 and 10 points each. 

The San Beda Red Cubs will battle their Season 90 finals nemesis Malayan Red Robins this Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena at 2pm.
