In the first game of the Saturday games of the 78th season of the UAAP at the Mall of Asia Arena, the UP Fighting Maroons after losing 5 straight games in the first round finally were able to notch another win opening the second round wining against the Adamson Soaring Falcons 89-84.
In their past few games the Maroons lost their fighting form as they struggle to find a leader inside the court, even losing one of their rookie big man in their last game in the first round, but entering the second round the slopping Iskos from UP were able to avenge their loss against the Falcons in the first round as they were able to control the pace of the game to lead Adamson 44-36 at the end of the first half of the game.
In the second half the Adamson Falcons tried to bounce back and keep the game close as possible, but still the Fighting Maroons are eager to get back on track they were able to push the lead up to 12 points 49-37 with less than seven minutes left in the third, the Maroons were able to finish the third with a 68-56 lead.
In the final period the Maroons were able to post a 76-61 lead over Adamson, but the Falcons were able to make a 10-0 run to close in at a 76-71, but the determined UP squad were able to held on to their lead to foil Adamson's comeback in the game..
Henry Asilum, Jett Manuel, Diego Dario, and Agustini Amar led the Fighting Maroons in this game scoring 19,16, 14, and 13 points respectively, while Pape Sarr scored 18 points for the Falcons in this loss.

In the second game the UE Red Warriors also snapped their losing streak after beating the defending champions NU Bulldogs 52-47.
The defending champs were able to open the game on a high note, though the game was a low scoring ball game, they were able to take over the lead at the end of the first half 28-21, Second half was a different story as the Red Warriors comes back to life as they were able to take the lead fro the first time at 36-34 with less than two minutes remaining in the third period.
The Red Warriors were able to control the final period as they were able to take a 45-39 advantage with less than 5 minutes left in the game, the Bulldogs tried to regain the lead but UE's defense didn't let them take the lead as the Red Warriors pushes the Defending Champions on the brink of dethronement as they now dropped to 3-5 record.
Veteran Red Warrior Chris Javier led UE in this win with 17 points, meanwhile on the other side It's Alfred Aroga who led the Bulldogs with 11 points.
