The Adamson University Soaring Falcons soars high to avoid ending the first round of elimination win less after defeating the now struggling University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons 73-68 in the 11am game of the Sunday game day of the 78th season of the UAAP at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Adamson Falcons capitalizes the sluggish start of the Maroons to take an early 21-14 edge at the end of the first period, in the second period UP tries to heat things up on their side but Adamson's shooting is way hotter as they started to pull away to end the first half 47-28.
Entering the second half Adamson's perimeter shooting was unstoppable leaving UP struggling behind in double digit deficit until the middle of the third, though the Fighting Maroons were able to trim the lead down Adamson finishes the third period with a 57-46 lead.
In the final quarter UP finally heats up shifting the momentum on their side trimming the lead to just 3 points 56-59 with 6:32 remaining and even taking over the lead 63-61 after a three by Dave Moralde in with less than 6 minutes remaining in the game, but the Rookie from Adamson Jerome Garcia was just unstoppable as he erases the hopes of the Fighting Maroons to make a comeback after sealing the win for the Falcons.
It was rookie Jerome Garcia that led the Adamson in outlasting the Fighting Maroons producing a career high 26 points, while Paul Desiderio carried the whole UP squad throughout the game scoring 26 points also.

In the second game the De La Salle University Green Archers edges their bitter rivals Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles 80-76 in the heated match up between the two teams last Sunday.
Ateneo started the game strong holding on to a huge 25-13 lead to end the first period, in the second period though La Salle were able to close in the game the offense of the Blue Eagles was just unstoppable as they extend their lead to a 35-20 lead with less than 6 minutes left in the game, Ateneo takes a 46-36 lead at the end of the first half.
Entering the second half La Salle was a different team slowly erasing the lead of Ateneo as the perimeter shooting of the Green Archers started to get hot as they were able to tie the game 61-61 at the end of the third, In the final quarter the though the Blue Eagles were able to keep the game close defensive lapses from the Blue side led to a complete turn around as the Green Archers grab the win away from Ateneo after a Josh Torralba winning three.
Jeron Teng top scored again for the Green Shirts with 18 points, meanwhile Kiefer Ravena top scored for the Blue Shirts with 19 points in this game.
