#NCAA91 Day 38: JRU and Mapua Enters Play offs, Letran Secures Twice To Beat Advantage.

In the last day of eliminations in the 91st season of NCAA, the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers forces a three way tie after beating the  San Sebastian Stags 91-88.

Determined to return to the final four the JRU Heavy Bombers showcase their dominance over San Sebastian early in the first period leaving the Stags behind 23-17, though in the second quarter San Sebastian were able to catch up still the Heavy Bombers were able to finish the first half on top 43-38.

Entering the second half a more aggressive JRU squad entered the court as they extend their lead to 13 53-40 with 7 minutes left in the game, though the Stags were able to trim the lead down to 10 via a three point shot by Spencer Pretta, Paolo Pontejos hot shooting still lifts the Heavy Bombers back to a 12 point lead to end the third period 68-56. In the fourth quarter the Heavy Bombers continues to bombard San Sebastian as they were able to extend the lead to a huge 22 point deficit at 88-66 with just few ticks remaining on the shot clock.

The hot shooting Paolo Pontejos carried the JRU Heavy Bombers with 23 points, meanwhile Bradwyn Guinto led the Stags in this defeat with 14 points as San Sebastian ends their Season 91 campaign with a 6-12 win-loss record.

In the second game the Mapua Cardinals pushes off a play off match against the Arellano Chiefs after they put up a huge victory over the EAC Generals 88-61.

The EAC Generals started the game strong leading the Mapua Cardinals 12-7 with 1:42 remaining in the first quarter, but Mapua were able to chase the Generals to take over the lead 15-14 at the end of the first period, In the second period it was a tit for tat game as both squads started to exchange lead even tying the game at 26-26 with 6 minutes left in the quarter, though  the Cardinals were able to end the first half 41-38.

Entering the second half the Cardinals starts to pull away as they were able to limit the scoring of EAC to just 11 points in the third period to lead 61-49. In the final quarter Mapua showed dominance over the Generals as they extend their lead to 19 72-53 with 7:28 left in the game.

Allwell Oraeme, Darell Menina, Mark Brana, Josan Nimes, JP Nieles, and CJ Isit scored in double digit in this game as the Cardinals will move to a play offs this Tuesday against the Arellano University Chiefs at the Mall of Asia Arena at 2pm, meanwhile Sydney Onwubere top scored for the Generals to end their season 91 campaign at the bottom of the standing with a 2-16 win-loss record.

In the final match the Letran Knights snatches the second twice to beat advantage as they send the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas out of the Final Four Race after four years after defeating them big time 93-64.

The Knights showcased their will to win in this game against the Perps showing dominance early on the game to take a 21-10 lead at the end of the first period. The Altas showing no signs of fighting back in the second period Letran took advantage of it to balloon their lead up by as much as 21 points  35-14 with 5:50 left in the first half.

In the second half Letran's offense was just unstoppable as they continue to push their lead up giving the Altas a hard time recovering in the game ending the quarter down by 30 at 72-42. Entering the last 10 minutes of the game the Perps defense and offense finally collapsed as the Knights run away with a huge lead sealing the deal and kicking the Altas out of the Final Four race.

Mark Cruz and Kevin Racal combined 33 points for the Knights in this game, Letran will face San Beda this Tuesday for the battle for the number one spot at 4pm at the MOA Arena, meanwhile Prince Eze top scored for the Perps with 24 points as they bowed out of the season with a n 11-7 win-loss record.
