#NCAA91 day 36: San Sebastian Slays Another Giant, JRU Continue Its Quest To Get Back In The Final Four

Even if they are already out of the final four contention, the San Sebastian College Recoletos Stags proves to be this season's Giant Slayer after they beat another league leading team this time the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas yesterday 91-87 at the Arena in San Juan.

The game started with Perpetual Help looking to close out the Stags easily leaving them behind 10-0 to start the first quarter, though the stags were able to bounce back to catch up still San Sebastian was trailing at the end of the first quarter 22-15, entering the second period the Stags were able to trim down the lead of the Altas even getting the taste of the lead for the first time at 38-40 but Perpetual Help manages to take the lead back to end the first half 41-40.

In the third quarter momentum finally shifted on the side of San Sebastian as they were able to take over the lead 55-57 with 1:36 left in the third, the Stags ended the third period 63-57. The fourth quarter was a close one as none of the two teams is letting anyone pull away, but with just a snap the Stags were able to ice the Perps to take away the lead.

San Sebastian's Jamil Otuouste, Bradwyn Guinto and Michael Calisaan scored 27, 25, and 15 points to best the trio from Perpetual Help Dagangon, Akhuetie, and Thompson who scored 22, 21, and 15 points respectively.

San Sebastian is already out of contention for the final four, but still they are left to battle JRU on Friday, Meanwhile, Perpetual Help is left to battle Letran. The Altas went down to 11-6 record to go down to #3.

San Sebastian Stags 91: Ortuouste 27, Guinto 25, Calisaan15, Fabian 9, Capobres 9, Costelo 4, Bulanadi 2. 

Perpetual Help Altas 87: Dagangon 22, Akhuetie 21, Thompson 15, Ylagan 10, Dizon 4, Gallardo 2.

In the second game. Even with a sick Paolo Pontejos, the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers bombed the Lyceum Pirates 64-55 to tie the #3 and #4 standings with Perpetual Help.

The determined Heavy Bombers show force against the Pirates to start the game strong ending the first quarter 16-9, though Lyceum continues to chase down the lead of the Heavy Bombers in the second  period JRU still manages to end the first half with a comfortable 34-25 lead over Lyceum.

Entering the second half the JRU ballooned their lead by 11 points as Teytey Teodoro hits a couple of three to keep the Pirates at bay, the Heavy Bombers ended the third period with a 51-43 lead to enter the fourth period. In final 10 minutes of the game, the Pirates were able to closed in to JRU 56-52, but the Heavy Bombers finally sealed win number 11 to barged in to the top four.

Teytey Teodoro led the Heavy Bombers with 32 points, he is the only one to score in double digit for JRU. Meanwhile Victor Nguidjol lead Lyceum in losing efforts.

The Heavy Bombers are set to face the San Sebastian Stags this Friday to determine if they will be able to seal their final four return or if they need to have a play off with the other 3 teams.
