#NCAA91 Day 37: Arellano & Mapua Stays On The Final Four Race, San BedaTakes The First Semis Seat

In the second to the last game day of the elimination round of the 91st season of the NCAA, for the first game the Mapua Cardinals stays alive in the final four race after ending the season of the College of Saint Benilde Blazers 77-72.

Mapua showed their will to return into the Final Four as they led the Blazers 18-11 t the end of the first period, in the second CSB were able to tie the game 20-20 with 5 minutes remaining in the game, but the Cardinals were able to end the first half 33-28.

Entering the second half the CSB Blazers were able to grab the lead 36-35 with 6 minutes lef =t in the third period, but quickly Mapua gets the lead back to end the third period 54-48. In the final 10 minutes the of the game the Cardinals started to pull away taking a 71-56 lead with less than 3 minutes left in the game, inside the last two minute mark the Blazers manages to make a 16-6 run, but it was too late as Mapua already takes over the game.

Darell Menina top scored for the Cardinals with 17 points in the game, while Alfonso Saavedra led the CSB with 19 points to end the season with a 5-13 record.

In the second game the the Arellano Chiefs stays alive in the final four contention after beating the EAC Generals 98-90.

The Chiefs showed their will to return into the final four as they began the game with a 26-26 lead against EAC at the end of the first period, the lead continues to blow up as the shooting of Arellano gets hotter to end the first half 52-38.

In the third period again the Chiefs didn't let the Generals get near them as they continue to lead in double digit 56-40 to start the second half, EAC though they made some efforts to trim the lead down still Arellano bagged the lead at the end of the third 74-61.

In the fourth period the the Generals came back to life as they were able to trim the lead of Arellano to 5, 91-86 entering the last two minute mark of the game but Arellano's will to stay prevails as they cap off the win to turn back the Generals.

As usual Jiovani Jalalon again drives the Arellano Chiefs in winning this game with 31 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, meanwhile Sydney Onwubere top scored for the Generals with 24 points.

EAC Generals 90 – Onwubere 24, Hamadou 20, Munsayac 15, Mejos 13, General 8, Bonleon 5, Diego 5.

In the final game, the San Beda Red Lions exacts revenge against their bitter rival Letran Knights 77-73 to book the first semis slot in the 91st season of NCAA sending a 5 way tie for the number 2,3,4,5,and 6 spot.

It was indeed a classic game between the two rival squads as their second meeting was far more intense than their first meeting where San Beda was just hapless and Letran was so dominant, In the start of the game San Beda led early in the first period 19-15, though the first part of the game was close San Beda made a quick run in the second period to take a 35-19 entering the last 5 minutes of the first half, the first half end with San Beda leading Letran 43-25.

In the second half the Red Lions continue to dominate Letran as their lead goes up to a 61-48 at the end of the third period, though the Knights were able to trim the lead of the Red Lions down to 8 with 7 minutes left in the game, but even with the run of Letran, San Beda held on to keep the lead and finally barging in the final four with twice to beat advantage.

Veterans Ola Adeogun, Baser Amer and Rookie Acee Soberano led the scoring for San Beda with 13, 10, and 11 points respectively, meanwhile Rey Nambatac, Mark Cruz and Jerrick Ballanza top scored for the Knights producing 16, 12, and 11 points respectively.
