#UAAPLXXIX Day 28: Tamaraws End Losing Skid, Ateneo Takes Twice To Beat.



The FEU Tamaraws finally snapped out of their losing skid after a come from behind victory against the UE Red Warriors 64-61 in the last game day of the elimination round of UAAP season 79. 

The Tamaraws started the game struggling as they had a hard time countering the defense of UE limiting them down to just 11 points in the opening quarter, but slowly going to the second period FEU was able to climb back and erase the deficit of the Red Warriors to end the first half 34-all.  

The Red Warriors bounced back in the third period, outscoring FEU 19-10 to retake the lead 53-44 at the end of the third. But in the final period the Tamaraws were successful in restricting UE in scoring limiting them to just 8 points in the fourth quarter, giving FEU the chance to complete a comeback after a 20-8 quarter output. 

Axel Inigo led the Tamaraws again this time in a victorious effort having 16 points and 6 rebounds, while Raymar Jose added a double-double 11 points and 12 rebounds, Richard Escoto and Inno Comboy added 11 and 10 points respectively. On the side of the Red Warriors, Paul Varilla was the lone player to score in double digit with 13.

The Ateneo Blue Eagles sealed the twice to beat advantage for the Final Four after they outlasted the gritty Adamson Falcons 67-73.

The game went stiff for the two squads as the game will dictate what will happen in the semis, Adamson went on to take a 17-15 lead at the end of the first period, they continued to control the game in the second period as they were able to successfully keep the Blue Eagles at bay to end the first half up 33-28.

Entering the second half the game got fiery as Ateneo starts to play catch up, cutting the lead of the Falcons down to a single point lead to end the third at 52-53. The Blue Eagles were able to outlast the Falcons in the final period, outscoring them 21-14 to edge them out and send them down to fourth spot.

Thirdy Ravena led the Blue Eagles with 14 points and 13 rebounds, Mike Nieto and Adrian Wong added 12 points each. Meanwhile, Pape Sarr had a 17 points and 23 rebound performance to lead Adamson in this loss, Frederick Tungcab had a career high 16 points, and Rob Manalang added 12 points.
