#UAAPLXXIX Juniors Basketball 11/15/16



The UPIS Junior Maroons rout the DLSZ Junior Archers 81-59 to bounce back after their opening day defeat. The Junior Archers were able to open the game with a 9 point lead, but the Junior Maroons were able to take over the lead in the latter part of the quarter to take a narrow 18-17 lead. 

UPIS puts DLSZ at the center of the storm as they started to pull away, outscoring them 29-11 to take a huge 47-28 lead at the end of the first half. Entering the second half the Junior Archers were able to stop the run of the Junior Maroons as they were able to equalize their outputs though they are still down 52-43. 

In the final period, UPIS halts the Junior Archer's momentum as they take the victory sending the greens down to their second loss. 

Juan Gomez De Liano led the Junior Maroons with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, Rafael Labao added 16 points and Bryan Lina had 13 points for UPIS. Rob Mariano had 16 points to lead DLSZ in losing efforts, Jan Sobrevega added 12 points.

The FEU-FERN Baby Tamaraws tumble against the Adamson Baby Falcons 78-65. The Baby Tamaraws failed to start the game on a high note as they ends up down 20-29 in the opening quarter. 

The Baby Tams were able to bounce back in the second period as they cut the lead of Adamson down to a 41-42 lead to end the first half. But going to the second half FEU-FERN wasn't able to sustain the good run they had in the second period, they only scored 8 points in the third period to give the Baby Falcons the chance to take a 58-49 lead at the end of the third. 

The good run of the Baby Falcons continues in the fourth period as they were able to keep the Baby Tamaraws at bay to seal the game and go 2-0 early in the tournament. Austin Abadiano leads the Baby Falcons with 14 points, Flo Serrano and Raygan Santos both added 13 points, and Evan Agbong had 12 points. 

Three Baby Tamaraws scored a double-double, first is Kenji Roman with 12 points and 15 rebounds, second is Jack Gloria with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Xyrus Torres had 12 points also.

The UE Junior Warriors bounce back from their opening game loss after beating the UST Tiger Cubs 87-77. The Junior Warriors opens the game with a slight 20-16 lead over UST, going the second period UE continues to dominate the Tiger Cubs as they push their lead up to a 42-32 advantage at the end of the first half. 

In the second half the Tiger Cubs were quick to recover as they were able to outscore UE to atleast cut the deficit down to a 53-64. UST tried to stage a comeback in the final period, but the Junior Warriors were able to put a stop to UST's run to keep them at bay and secure the victory. 

Dustin Angeles topped the scoring for UE with 20 points, Rey Balundo followed with 19 points, whle to Junior Warriors were able to score a double-double Andrei Dulalia had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Sean Manaug with 13 points and 12 rebounds. 

Inand Fornillos led the Tiger Cubs again, having a double-double performance of 17 points and 11 rebounds, Miguel Ratuiste added 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The defending champions NU Bullpups escape past the Ateneo Blue Eaglets in a thrilling 73-68 victory. The opening quarter ended with both squads tied at 15, but moving to the second period the Bullpups made a quick work as they were able to pull away after the Blue Eaglets had a hard time getting their baskets giving NU a 31-24 lead at the half. 

In the second half the Bullpups continues to control the game as they take a 54-43 lead at the end of the third, but going to the final period the Blue Eaglets regain their composure as they were able to start to make a comeback, but the runs of Ateneo falls short as NU was able to secure the victory. 

John Lloyd Clemente led the Bullpups with his double-double performance of 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Win Coyoca topped the scoring with 20 points, Karl Penano had 16, and Rhayan Amsali added 15 for NU. SJ Belangel leads the Blue Eaglets in losing efforts, having 23 points.
