The Ateneo Blue Eagles ties the FEU Tamaraws in second place after dominating the latter 74-59.
The Tamaraws entered the game struggling still coming off a tough loss against Adamson, giving the pumped up Ateneo the opportunity to capitalized it taking a 24-14 lead in the opening quarter.
The hardship continues for FEU as they struggle to find rhythm inside the court letting the Blue Eagles fly higher to end the first half up with a huge 46-28. The Tamaraws tried to bounce back in the second after outscoring Ateneo in the third period 18-12 to cut the deficit down to a 58-46 lead.
In the final period FEU tried to make a comeback, but the Blue Eagles were fast to counter FEU’s offense to push their lead back up to double digits again to secure the victory.
Thirdy Ravena, Isaac Go, and Adrian Wong combined 41 points for the Blue Eagles, meanwhile Monbert Arong top scored for FEU with 15 points, Prince Orizu added 11 points and 16 rebounds, while Raymar Jose had 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Adamson wasn't able to soar high instantly in the game as the Tigers from UST were able to keep the game close to start off the match, finishing the opening period with a slight 21-19 advantage for the Falcons as they continue to control the pace of the keeping UST at a 37-32 distance at the end of the first half.
UST were able to regain their composure at the start of the second half as they were able to almost match the quarter output of the Falcons at 18-19, though they still end the third period down 56-50. In the final period the Tigers were left out scoring only 11 points, giving the chance for Adamson to capitalize and take over the game.
Robbie Manalang and Jerrick Ahanmisi combined 32 points for the Falcons, as they boost their final four hopes and if lucky a twice to beat advantage after they move up to a 7-5 record, that's one game shy to the 8-4 record of Ateneo and FEU.
Meanwhile, USTs Jamil Sheriff and Kent Lao combined 25 points, The Tigers were already out of the final four contention prior to this game, they go down to a 3-10 record an almost opposite record from last season.
