In the
final day of the elimination round one team successfully dodges a winless
season and another one failed to keep their record undefeated.
UST ends
their worst season on a high note after they outlasted the Red Warriors 88-85.
Reggie Basibas played hero for the Tigers as he scored 21 points and 9
rebounds, Steve Akomo and Enrique Caunan gave UST a double double-double
performance after producing 18 points and 20 rebounds for Akomo and 14 points
and 11 rebounds for Caunan.
In the
final match of the eliminations, the De La Salle Green Archers spoiled the
sweep seeking Ateneo Blue Eagles after an intense 79-76 battle. Season 80 MVP
Ben Mbala scored 28 points and 19 rebounds to carry the Green Archers to
victory, meanwhile, Ricci Rivero added 21 points.
The Final
Four matchup between number 1 Ateneo versus 4 FEU will be on Sunday, 4pm at the
Araneta Coliseum, while number 2 La Salle battles number 3 Adamson on Saturday
same place and same time.
