Sofronio Vasquez, an alumnus of It's Showtime's Tawag ng Tanghalan has made a history as he became the first ever Asian and Filipino to win the US edition of the popular singing competition "The Voice".
Representing Team Buble' in the final competition, Sofronio has garnered the highest number of votes in the finale night held last Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) to claim the title, a record deal with Universal Music, and the $100,000 prize of the show's 26th season.
Sofronio performed the song "A Million Dreams" from the movie The Greatest Showman and Sia's Unstoppable for his final performance. He bested other finalists such as Danny Joseph from Team Reba (Mcentire), Jeremy Beloate fro Team Snoop Dogg, Shye from who is also from Team Buble, and Sydney Sterlace from Team Gwen (Stefani).
The 32-year-old singer who originated from Ozamis City is now based in Utica, New York.
