Espantaho or Scarecrow in tagalog, usually these humanlike figures are placed in the middle of the rice fields or farms to drive away birds that cause infestations in farms, but in Filipino folklore an Espantaho is depicted as a malevolent spirit that brings a curse and causes fear and misfortune.
This 50th Metro Manila Film Festival, Prime Superstar, Ms Judy Ann Santos is making a comeback on the big screen as she stars in the 20th year movie offering Quantum Films, "Espantaho". Judy Ann plays the role of Monet, a loving daughter to her father Pablo, despite being the second family Monet took charge of taking care of her father, as well as preserving their father's properties and his heritage.
Things took a hundred and eighty degrees turn when their father passed, Monet and her mother Rosa has to deal with Adele, Pablo's legal wife who wants to dispose all of his properties including the house and the farm that they put up.
As the family mourns the passing of their patriarch, the once bountiful and fruitful land became barren and desolate, eerie stuff started to haunt the family as if a curse was bestowed upon their bloodline by the Espantaho who has been watching over the family through the years.
Will the family be able to save themselves from the wrath of the Espantaho?
Veteran director, Chito S. Rono is definitely putting up another classic horror movie in Espantaho! Starring along Judy Ann Santos are Lorna Tolentino, Chanda Romero, Tommy Abuel, Janice de Belen, Mon Confiado, JC Santos, Donna Cariaga, Kian Co, and Eugene Domingo.
