#Review: My Future You: Taking You From Zero and Beyond.

My Future You is not your typical love team movie, although the movie stars one of the country's rising love teams today, the movie doesn't follow the usual formula of rom-com movies as My Future You goes beyond the kilig as it delves deep within the characters that Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin portrays.

My Future You succeeded in delivering a great narrative despite its complex story. It was able to smoothly connect the different timelines without spoon-feeding the audience about what's happening to Lex and Karen. It was also able to effectively convey its message, stating that everything that happened in the past made us who we are today.

Cinematography played a vital role in My Future You as it became the visual representation of that complex narrative and the fluidity of the story. The use of distinct color schemes and lighting distinguished whether the characters are in 2009 or in 2024 and the use of visual distortions in some parts of the movie gave the already magical storyline more magic with the different shots and different angles used to deepen the visual storytelling of the movie.

Having limited characters, My Future You was able to introduce their story with a solid presentation of the characters' development despite being just glued to their laptops where every scene of Karen and Lex unfolds.

Karen and Lex did not have that much physical interaction in the movie as they were separated by their timelines and the only thing that keeps them connected is their laptops, that’s where their story unfolds and revolves. My Future You still managed to introduce the two characters and their progression throughout the story in their respective timelines despite these character limitations.

Hats off to Francine and Seth as they were able to deliver their characters with flying colors, although they did not have that much physical connection in the movie they were able to exude that undeniable and natural chemistry through their split screen conversations. I have to say that the kilig factor emerges even without making that much effort.

A big congratulations as well to the man behind My Future You, Director Crisanto B. Aquino for taking us back from 15 years ago and making us realize that even though we can no longer go back to our past and change it, there's always the present to work on for us to have a better future.

My Future You is definitely the perfect movie to open your 50th Metro Manila Film Festival on Christmas Day. A compelling narrative about the importance of family, acceptance, and contentment, complemented by great actors and narratives. My Future You will definitely bring you from Zero and Beyond!
