Tecno Pova: The Pouvoir-ful Upgrade

Last time we reviewed the Tecno Mobile’s Pouvoir 4 which boasts a massive 6000mAh of battery for a price that is very affordable, but again some manufacturers needed to trade off some features to keep the price point low and when I say low it is less than ₱7000.

But, Tecno being a true champion of entry level smartphones is here again, offering a more powerful alternative to the Pouvoir, say hello to the Tecno Pova (yeap, it sounds like Pouvoir was made easier to read ;)).

Package:

The Pova comes in an elegant looking silver glossy box, as for the package you'll get a free case and a tempered glass, a headset, and of course they still included a charger inside the box and although it’s still a Micro USB charger the Pova like the Pouvoir comes with an 18 watt charging brick, just imagine an entry level phone giving you those stuff inside the box for less than ₱7000.

I got the Magical Blue color, well its magical coz it sparkles on different angles, the phone is made of plastic, it feels plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap on the hand as it features that very beautiful design and color choice.

Screen and Built:

The screen of the Pova is quite smaller compared to the Pouvoir, but the Pova features a dot-in display screen that measures at 6.8 inch and I think the screen to body ratio of this is around 90% as it really got thin bezels on the sides, on the forehead, although it got a bigger chin still the Pova is out to give the best multimedia viewing experience whether playing videos or games down to just browsing the quality of the texts and images are crisp at 720p resolution.

Gaming:

One of the main selling point of the Pova is it’s processor, the Helio G80 that promises a superior gaming experience to users and true enough along with its 4GB of RAM and 64GB ROM the Pova was able to play the games that I played smoothly (I am not a hardcore gamer, although I was able to play games like Mobile Legends, Pokemon Go, and Genshin Impact). One thing I liked about this phone is that it never heated up, I never felt that it was overheating while I play games or multitask.

Just to add the Pova got a Game Mode that boosts the GPU, CPU, and memory for optimal gaming experience and it also got a do not disturb mode for you to focus on winning your game.

Camera:

The 13 megapixel AI Quad Camera delivers a so-so performance, but if you are shooting I  a well lit envirnmont the camera delivers crisp and well detailed photos, but using it at night it really struggled big time or sometimes in a very bright scenario it tends to wash out the details of the subject.

The 8 megapixel camera on the other hand delivers really good photos, thanks to the dual flash that they sneaked in o top of the screen on both sides of the speaker, the images are bright enough and quality passed my standards although you just have to pick your angle and beautify settings to capture your best selfie.

Battery and 18 Watt Fast Charging:

I got my unit last October 13, it came with a 60% charge out of the box and it lasted for more than 2 days of moderate use, from that moment up until I publish this review I was only able to charge the Pova three times and I don’t know why but the charging speed of the Pova with the 18 watt charger is faster than the one in Pouvoir 4, it only took me 2 hours on the Pova while 4 hours of chargjng for the Pouvoir 4.

The best selling point of this phone is the Battery, again I only charged it thrice for 10 days, this is no joke or hype, but the 6000mAh is a real deal, it can last for 4 days from 1000%-0% without charging and that’s already with moderate to heavy use, playing mobile legends four games a day, hours of watching movies on pop pinoy TV and on youtube, playing rounds of spike master and match fun, several calls on messenger, and unlimited browsing of Instagram, twitter, and Facebook in a day and still I have 60-70% of battery, I never had a phone that lasted me for four days with that kind of usage.

Pricing:
The Pova is priced at ₱6999 and is alreadg available on Tecno Mobile’s Shopee page, at that price poin I can say that it is a bang for the buck.
