Renshi de Guzman: The Unexpected Ronin.
In history a Ronin is a samurai that has no master, but we are not talking about that kind of ronin that we are talking about in this months’ feature. We are going to talk about “In Between” star Renshi de Guzman who plays the role of Ronin.
The character of Ronin started off as that cutie BFF of the lead characters in the series, but as the series grow Renshi’s portrayal caught the audiences because of the cuteness and charm of the character and it blossomed into a more interesting character midway of the series as the story progresses and he got his own partner which is Makisig played by Lance Carr.
The chemistry between Renshi and Lance placed them on spotlight as well that aside from the leads they were able to hook up their own following called the “Pangs” short for Panga or Palanga which means beloved or dear in Cebuano.
But who is Renshi before he hit that break in the series?
Renshi is 18 years old and he started off his career in showbiz as a bit player, his became a part of the 2018 movie “Class of 2018” also, and this 2020 he was able to get the biggest break of his career in “In Between” and before the year ends the spin off series of “In between” starring him and Lance Carr is set to premiere as well.
We had a short Q&A with Renshi and here it is;
How was the whole experience doing the “In Between” series?
- It was fun and very memorable because of the bonding we had and the challenge I had as an actor to portray this kind of character.
What was the most memorable scene or part of the series for you?
- Nic's birthday because that is when it all started.
Were you able to relate on the character of Ronin?
- Somehow yes, because there are some scenes from In Between that happened in my life. For example, I have many good friends like the one i have in the series.
Did you expect that your character as Ronin would become a hit that soon you’ll be getting your own BL series as well?
- I never expected that the viewers will appreciate my work. So I'm really thankful that because of their support, I got this project.
How was it working during the community quarantine?
- It was challenging because there's a lot of adjustments but we still manage to make it through. And because the production staff made sure of our safety that is why I am very grateful to them.
How would you describe your co-stars in one word?
- Mabait.
