The FEU FERN Baby Tamaraws ends the first round of elimination with a 5-2 record after they defeated the UST Tiger Cubs 87-76.
The Baby Tamaraws was charged up early in the game, taking an early 21-16 lead at the end of the opening period. Moving to the second period FEU-FERN continues to show dominance over the Tiger Cubs as they started to pull away early in the second period, pushing their lead up 31-18. UST tried to climb back in the latter part of the quarter, but the Baby Tams were able to secure a 45-30 lead to end the first half.
Going to the second half, the Baby Tamaraws builds up a 17 point cushion in the third quarter, keeping UST struggling to catch up with them, finishing the third period up 70-53.
In the final frame of the game FEU-FERN continues to play consistent basketball making it hard for the Tiger Cubs to atleast cut the lead of the Baby Tams down to single digit, though they were able to get at 74-86, that was the closest they were able to get.
Kenji Roman had another double-double performance, having 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Baby Tamaraws, while Eric Jabel topped the scoring with 16 points, followed by Rhon Abarrientos with 14 points and LJ Gonzales with 10 points, '
Cris Cansino topped the statsline on the side of UST, having 25 points, Venne Villapando had 14 points, Inand Fornillos added 11 points, and Timothy Dela Cruz had 10 points.
