Die Beautiful
Die Beautiful tells the journey of Trisha Echivaria the beki
beauconera that dreamt of becoming a Beauty Queen someday.
The film is actually a series of flashbacks that was
tailored to perfection to perfectly retell the life of Trisha, these flashbacks
were well used to fill in the back story of Trisha from the time she died back
to her younger years.
I already saw movies that used flashbacks to show the audiences the
back story of a character, but as far as I remember those movies failed to
execute it properly that it made the flashbacks turn their story a bit off and full of loopholes
and missing parts. But for the first time, I was finally able to see a movie
that perfectly executed and used the flashbacks to celebrate the life of a great
character like Trisha without asking too much of what had happened to the character cause the flashbacks were able to retell the journey of Trisha.
The role of Trisha Echivaria perfectly fits to Paolo
Ballesteros, I guess I should say the role was Tailor made for her, as he was
able to deliver the role as natural as possible. There are scenes that I could
really feel the emotions coming from him, the character went through the hardest to
happiest times and Paolo was able to share with the audience the feeling of
Trisha.
One character that stood out aside from Trisha is Barbs her
best friend played by Christian Bables. Barbs role made a mark on me because she
was the epitome of a true BFF, her role completed Trisha. Christian Bables
delivers an excellent job in portraying the character, his portrayal was very
natural that many thought he is really gay that’s how convincing he is.
Christian’s exceptional performance is worthy of an award, I could be biased
here, but I couldn’t think of anybody else to award the Best Supporting Actor
aside from him.
All in all Die Beautiful was a really great movie, one of
the best I saw. It is really deserving of all the international awards and
recognition it received in the past months. Actually, I am still in awe with how
great Die Beautiful was crafted, it differs itself from other comedy movies we
usually see in the MMFF, this one is a comedy movie with a heart and soul that
will teach you many lessons in life.
Kudos to Direk Jun Lana and the rest of the production of Die Beautiful for coming up with this kind of quality movie.
