The De La Salle Green Archers showed the Ateneo De Manila Blue Eagles that they are in it to win the UAAP season 79 Men's Basketball Finals after sweeping them in the game 2 of the finals 79-72.
Jeron Teng started off hot for the Green Archer scoring off the first 8 point to take an 8-4 advantage, though Ateneo was able to keep the game close as the game progresses they end up the opening period down 16-22. Going to the second period La Salle's mayhem defense intensified as they were able to establish a 10 point margin to end the first half 45-35.
In the second half the Blue Eagles became more aggressive as they start off cutting the lead of La Salle down to a 59-52 at the end of the third, they continue to post threats going to the final period as they were able to get as close as 69-73 with less than two minutes left in the game.
Jeron Teng led the Mayhem of La Salle with 28 points, while Ben Mbala added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Nieto led the Blue Eagles in this game with 18 points, followed by Adrian Wong and Raffy Verano added 10 points each.
Dubbed as the dream match the UAAP season 79 men's basketball finals series got the lowest gate attendance recorded since season 74, with 17495. It wasn't able to beat the gate attendance record of the last two seasons where FEU barged in to the finals got the highest gate attendance record with 21933 versus UST and 24986 against NU both games were also held at the Araneta Coliseum.
