REVIEW:
#AngBabaeSaSepticTank2
Rating: 9/10 (12-16-15)
Five years after the first movie #AngBabaeSaSepticTank2 did not fail to differ itself from the first one, from the serious-dark comedy themed “How to make an internationally acclaimed indie movie” in 2011 to a lighter one “How to make a blockbuster romantic movie”.
Though the brand of comedy used in the part 2 was a bit lighter I still could say that it was well written and well thought out, it’s not like the usual comedy movie we see every MMFF that’s full of gags and non-sense.
#AngBabaeSaSepticTank2 is a proof that comedy movies can also have a concrete and meaningful story, actually the movie is taking a swipe against movie producers who kept on doing formula movies that should have a “Kilig at Katatawanan” factor to make it a box office success. By the way the movie is a satire that’s why they the put pun in every scenes they do.
The narrative of the movie is the same as the first one, Eugene suggest and then Direk Rainier visualizes that’s how the story go in the movie. Though it was simple the actors deliver so well, even those who only had a cameo.
Eugene Domingo delivers a stellar performance in this movie I think she is at her best in this one since I think she is in her element again, I got two favorite scenes of her in the movie that you should see, the first was the “Three Types Of Hugot” Acting scene and the Restaurant Confrontation scene near the end of the movie. (P.S. The movie ended with a bang! That’s why should really watch this movie)
Joel Torre was a surprise in the movie I think, I mean his scenes were really good. Kean Cipriano was able to keep the character of Direk Rainier, but this time it’s deeper and darker.
All in all the movie was one of the best movie I saw this year, that’s why I gave it a 10/10 ratings, though it was made a bit more commercialize to fit into the story the movie still reflects and sends the message that comedy movies should have a concrete and definite story before it is shown to the movie goers.
It also wants to tell the audiences that no matter how good a movie is and no matter how many awards it gets from different festivals abroad if the Filipino audience wouldn’t support these movies nothing will happen to our movie industry, we will be repeatedly fed up with non-sense and for profit only movies.
Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2 is one movie worthy of your money this Christmas Day.
