#UAAP78 The Finals Game 1: FEU Draw First Blood


The FEU Tamaraws draws first blood in the game one of the best of three finals against UST Growling Tigers 75-64 held at the Mall of Asia Arena.

FEU shows dominance in this first game of the finals though the Tigers were able to start the game close even getting a 6-1 lead in the early minutes of the game, but the Tamaraws bounces back after a sloppy start to take a 28-24 lead to end the first period.

The Tamaraws took control of the second period, outscoring UST with a 19-10 output finishing the first half 47-34, FEU continues to dominate UST in the third period, though the Tigers were able to trim the lead down, but the Tamaraws were still able to end the third period with a 57-51 lead.

In the fourth period UST made an easy 6-0 run with just less than one minute to tie the ball game at 57-all, at that point the game intensifies as it becomes a seesaw battle between the two teams. Barging into the last 2 minute mark of the game the Tamaraws rages and take an 10-0 run to take a huge 71-62 advantage.

Roger Pogoy led the Tamaraws in the first half of the game, scoring all of his 15 points in the first twenty minutes, meanwhile Mike Tolomia, Mac Belo, Russell Escoto and Prince Orizu joined forces to seal the game 1 victory for FEU scoring combined 26 points in the next 20 minutes.

On the other side it was veteran Karim Abdul and Kevin Ferrer who led UST with 34 points.

UST Growling Tigers 64:

Abdul 19, Ferrer 15, Vigil 8, Bonleon 6, Sheriff 6, Lee 6, Daquioag 4.
