The Film Development Council of the Philippines headed by Liza Dino-Seguerra has announced the 8th official entries to the second Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino this 2018! Coming from the success of Pista last year, #PPP2018 aims to showcase both indie and maindie movies from different producers, up and coming young directors.
The 8 entries came from different genre from Romance, Comedy, Musical, and Action. Starting off with "Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wifi" starring Sue Ramirez, Markus Patterson, and Jameson Blake, directed by Jun Robles Lana, the movie tells the story of a girl who develops an allergy to Wi-Fi and is forced to live in a remote province, pushing her to reevaluate her relationships and the boy she believes is her one true love.
Next is "Bakwit Boys" starring Nikko Natividad, Ryle Santiago, Vance Larena, and Devon Seron, directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, the movie tells the story of Four brothers known as the Bakwit Boys who gets a shot at their dreams when a rich city girl discovers their music talent.
Madalim Ang Gabi stars Gina Alajar, Philip Salvador, Felix Roco, Mikoy Morales, and Elizabeth Oropesa, directed by Adolfo Alix Jr. The movie tackles the story of a couple who got caught up in the drug war of the government after their son goes missing.
Pinay Beauty stars Chai Fonacier, EA Guzman, Janus Del Prado, Hannah Ledesma, and directed by Jay Abello, the movie is about the perennial quest of a typical Filipina to look Caucasian and the cost they entail.
Chito Rono's Signal Rock stars Christian Bables, who plays Intoy, a carefree no-hoper in a small town decides to help his sister in Finland win a child custody battle.
Bela Padilla and JC Santos with director Jason Paul Laxamana returns in PPP via The Day After Valentines, the movie tells the story of a distraught man named Kai meets Lani, a woman who helps him mend his brokenness and soon tags her as his “Ms. Repairman.”
Vhong Navarro and Winwyn Marquez stars for the first time in Unli Life, directed by Miko Livelo, Unli Life tackles the broken story of Benedict, a famous podcast DJ who was given several chances to travel back in time to change events that affects his lovelife whenever he drinks ‘wishky’ in a bar called “Turning Point.”
Erich Gonzales stars in her first action movie "We Will Not Die Tonight", directed by Richard Somes, the movie tells the story of Kray is a stuntwoman, an aspiring actress and an all around racketeer who can’t seem to get a break. A botched deal gone into a total haywire will challenge her principles and skillset.
Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2018 opens this coming August 15-21 in cinemas nationwide!
