In the first game of the last day of the first round of eliminations, the JRU Heavy Bombers dealt the San Beda Red Lions their first loss 79-73. It was the biggest upset of the season so far after JRU denies the Red Lions a first round sweep.
The whole game was almost dominated by the Red Lions taking the first three quarters 22-14 in the first, 37-35 at the end of the first half and 66-53 at the end of the third period.
But going to the final quarter, it was quiet bizarre that after scoring 29 points in the third period the Red Lions collapsed and only scored 7 points in the final period, giving the game away to JRU as they were able to outperform them in the final minutes.
Paolo Pontejos had his best game this season having 27 points to pull JRU up to 4-5. Meanwhile Donald Tankoua topped the scoring for San Beda with 28 points, the Red Lions still end the first round on top despite the loss at 8-1.
