#NCAA92 Day 6: Perpetual Help Beats San Sebastian, Letran Outlast Arellano


In the first game of the double header game day of the 92nd season of the NCAA, the Perpetual Help Altas beats the San Sebastian Golden Stags 76-61.

The Altas started the game on fire as they lead early in the 17-9, but San Sebastian 9-0 run to take the lead and also to end the period on top  21-19. Going to the second period the Altas made their own run to retake the lead at that point San Sebastian struggles to make a basket as the Altas pulled away 44-37 lead to end the first half.

In the second half the Altas tried to pull away again early in the game to extend their lead up 52-42, entering the last two minutes of the period San Sebastian were able to catch up as they were able cut the lead down 60-54  at the end of the third. Going to the final stretch of the game San Sebastan losses their fire power as they started to struggle putting in some baskets and because of this the Altas were able to capitalized on that as they outscore San Sebastian 16-7 in the fourth period.

Bright Akhuetie led the Altas with a huge double double performance producing 20 points and 20 rebounds, rookie Daryl Singontiko added 12 points as the Perpetual Help moves up to 2-1. On the side of San Sebastian Regilie Ilagan was the lone bright spot as he  scored 27 points, the Golden Stags dropped to 1-3 record.

In the second game, the defending champions Letran Knights dealt the Arellano Chiefs their first loss after beating them 89-79.

It was a seesaw battle between with Letran starting off early as they take a 24-21 lead in the first period, entering the second period the Knights kept the Chiefs at bay as they end the first half with a 42-36 lead.

Entering the second half the game intensifies as the Chiefs started to get hot as they started the third period with a 9-1 run to takeover the lead 45-46, but the chiefs had their own runs too to retake the lead 59-51. The Chiefs made another run as the were able to take the lead again at 60-61, but Rey Nambatac put up a buzzer beater basket to end the third period 62-61.

In the final period Letran capitalizes on the missed shots of the Chiefs as they were able to balloon their lead back to 10 with few minutes remaining on the game.

Rey Nambatac led the Knights in attacking as he scored 22 points, adding to that is Mcjour Luib with 17 points and Jerrick Ballanza with 12 points, meanwhile Felix Apreku led the defense of Letra n with 17 rebounds.

Jovanie Jalalon meanwhile showed why he is one of the best point guards in the collegiate scene as he scored 17 points and 11 assists for the Chiefs, Zach Nicholls added 15 points and Lervin Flores added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Arellano.

The Letran Knights ties their record with the Arellano Chiefs at 3-1.
