The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers almost had their spot in the final four last year, but series of unfortunate event led them to a three game losing skid that ended their quest for a final four appearance last season, finishing at 9-9 and 5th over all. The Heavy Bombers gave other teams a run for their money as they were able to beat top teams like San Beda and Mapua.
JRU losses their ace point guard Paolo Pontejos from graduation, Pontejos averages 10.9 points per game, 2.6 rebounds per game, amd 1.7 assists. Though the Heavy Bombers still got their top scorer Tey Teodoro back, he averaged 15.6ppg, 2.9rpg, and 1.4apg last season and he will serve as the leader for the team this season.
The Heavy Bombers showed an impressive pre season run as they finished 4th in the Filoil Flying V Pre Season Cup last month. Key retrurnees for the squad are Adbul Wahab AbdulRazak, Abdel Poutouochi, Ervin Grospe, and Mark Dela Virgen.
