In the first game the UE Red Warriors emerged victorious over the UP Maroons Spikers in 4 sets 20-25, 25-10, 25-22, 25-21.
Clifford Inoferio top scored for the Red Warriors with 14 points, John Mark Milette top scored for UP with 17 points.

In the Women's Division, the FEU Lady Tamaraws shrugged off a shaky first set loss to beat down the short handed NU Lady Bulldogs 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-12.
Rookie Lady Tams Lyka Ebon showed a very promising start after she was named as the player of the game with 13 points from 9 attacks and 4 aces, NU's super rookie Ivy Lacsina also showed off her prowess after scoring 14 points all coming from attacks.
Meanwhile, the UP Lady Maroons dodged an opening day upset ax from the UE Lady Warriors after they rallied back to win the five set match after being down 2 sets to 1, 25-12. 22-25, 23-25, 25-19, and 15-12.
Isa Molde led the Lady Maroons with 23 points from 19 attacks, 2 blocks, and 2 aces. Judy Abil on the other hand led the Lady Warriors with 20 points.
