The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain has been the much awaited event by geeks and tech enthusiast as the event is the launching pad of different tech companies that are about to launch their newest products and services. We've already seen the launch of Samsung's newest Galaxy S series in S10 and the first foldable phone in the Samsung Fold and Nokia's first penta lens smartphone the Nokia 9.
First, let's talk about the newest trend of Foldable devices, aside from Samsung, there were two other company that launched their own line of foldies in the MWC, these are two Chinese brands Huawei and Oppo, but we'll focus more on Huawei's foldie the Mate X.
The Mate X features a foldable 8 inches AMOLED screen, when folded the screen turns into a 6.6 inch phone with an additional usable rear screen at the back. Just like the other Mate's in Huawei's stable the Mate X also packs a powerful camera as it features three camera lens, one of which is a 40 megapixel wide angle camera, the next one is an ultrawide 16 megapixel camera, and an 8 megapixel telephoto lens all of which are Leica optics. (The set up kinda resembles of that in the S10)
A Kirin 980 chipset operates the Mate X, it is powered by a 4500 mAh of battery, and it also comes with an 8GB of RAM and a 512GB internal storage, and it runs on Android 9.0 under the EMUI 9.1. This is also Huawei's first take on the 5G technology, the download speed of this device could go up to 4 GBPS.
Priced at around $2800 or approximately Php150,000 this phone is definitely not an affordable smartphone beating out Samsung Fold's $1800. The Mate X is set to come out next month so stay tuned if Huawei Philippines will release this one here in the country.
