Review: The Last Word

The Last Word (March 17)

Directed by: Mark Pellington

Starring: Shirley Maclaine & Amanda Seyfried

Genre: Drama/Comedy

The Last Word tackles the story of an 81 year old woman named Harriet Lauler (Shirley Maclaine), a former advertising executive that is despised by many people because of her rudeness and OC personality. One day Harriet met Anne Sherman (Amanda Seyfried) an obituary writer for a local newspaper that she hired to write her own and because Harriet was despised by most of the people that knows her, Anne was forced to find the truth behind Harriet's life that ends up in a life changing friendship.

The Last Word basically talks about the importance of life, that every moment is important and that we need to cherish and celebrate it. The movie also shows that people will not remember you with your mistakes, but instead those people will remember you by the good things that you’ve done in life.

I just so love this movie I had a good laugh and I really did enjoyed it even though you already know that it will make you cry. I just felt like I am with them throughout their journey, I just loved Shirley MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried in this movie, this is the first time I watched Shirley MacLaine and at
82 she really nailed the character she made it her own and I love it.

All in all the movie was good, it is very relatable and engaging, it will teach us so many life lessons such as making mistakes makes you a better and stronger person and that we should all live our lives to the fullest, do what you want and do what you must coz at the end of the day you will not be sorry for those things that you didn’t do in your life.

“The Last Word” premiere in Philippines Cinema starting March 22, distributed by Star Cinema.
