#UAAPLXXIX Juniors Basketball: 1/21/17

 
The DLSZ Junior Archers finally snapped out of their losing streak after defeating the UE Junior Warriors 81-59 to notch their first win in the second round of elimination.
 
Zobel started the game with an early 21-15 lead over the Junior Archers, going to the second period though they almost had the same quarter output with UE, the Zobel still were able to maintain their lead at 36-29 after the first half.
 
The second half was a more dominant period for the green shirts as they punished the sloppy reds, taking a 25-15 output to push their lead up by 17 to end the third 61-44. Going to the final frame of the game Zobel continues to pull away leaving the Junior Warriors down by as much as 24 in the final period.
 
Five Junior Archers scored in double digits they were led by Shan Vesagas with 13 points, while Martin Romero, Rob Mariano, and Bryant Terado all scored 12 points, and wrapping it off is Raven Cortez who scored 10 points for Zobel as they improve their record up 3-7.
 
Sean Manaug top the stats line in this game leading the Junior Warriors with 13 points and 16 rebounds, Cruz Gonzalez added 12 points, and Dustin Angeles had 11 points.
 
The Junior Warriors dominated the rebounding department having 55 against the 40 of Zobel, aside from Manaug, Genesis Vinte and Andrei Dulalia added 12 and 14 rebounds a piece. UE dropped to 1-9 record settling at the bottom of the standings.

The Far Eastern University FERN Baby Tamaraws pulled a huge 61-46 victory over the defending champions National U Bullpups to tie them at second place with 8-2 record. 

The Baby Tams opened the game charging hot, taking a huge 25-8 first quarter results, going to the second period the Bullpups made their own 16-6 run to trim the lead of the Baby Tams down to 31-24 after the first half. 

Going to the second half the Baby Tams continues to control the pace of the game finishing the third period with a 47-36 advantage. In the final period the Baby Tams were successfully maintained their lead and even extend it up to an 18 point advantage to secure the victory. 

Xyrius Torres led the Baby Tams in this win with 20 points while Kenji Roman added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Meanwhile John Lloyd Clemente top scored for the Bullpups with 14 points.

The Adamson Baby Falcons soared higher than the Ateneo Blue Eaglets after they escaped past the latter 79-73 to keep the top spot and booking the first seat in the final four.
 
The Baby Falcons were off to a soaring start as they opened the game with a commanding 25-9 lead over the Blue Eaglets. Ateneo continues to play slow in the second period giving the Baby Falcons the opportunity to extend their lead up 46-22 at the end of the first half.
 
Ateneo began to show signs of life in the third period as they were able to outscore the Baby Falcons 25-22 to end the third 47-68. The Blue Eaglets continues to fight back in the final period, they even outscored the Baby Falcons 25-11, but the time ran out for Ateneo to complete a comeback saving Adamson by the bell.
 
Flo Serrano again led the Baby Falcons with 15 points, while Rence Padrigao and Jason Celis added 13 points each to keep Adamson at the top spot with a 9-1 record.
 
SJ Belangel on the other side top scored in this game with 18 points, Joaquin Manuel added 14 points, Jason Credo had 13 points, while Rom Berjay scored 11 points for the Blue Eaglets as they go down to 5-5 record.

The University of Sto Tomas Tiger Cubs notches their 3rd win of the season after dispatching the UPIS Junior Maroons 91-83. Eventhough the Junior Maroons were able to start the game with a 4 point lead, the Tiger Cubs were able to snatch it and finish the opening period up 21-16. Going to the second period, UPIS was able to make the game as close as possible though UST was able to keep a comfortable 47-39 lead.
 
In the second half the Tiger Cubs started to pull away after a 23-18 third quarter output to extend their lead up 70-57. In the final period the Junior Maroons were able to cut the lead of UST down via a 26-21 quarter output, but they weren't successful in staging a comeback giving the Tiger Cubs the victory.
 
Three Tiger Cubs scored in double-double, leading them is Jan Narvasa with 22 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Cris Cansino with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and wrapping it off is Inand Fornillos with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
 
Juan Gomez De Liano led the scorers in this game after having a season high 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Junior Maroons, Matt Santiago and Bryan Lina added 17 and 16 points respectively, while Rafael Labao contributed 10 points for the Junior Maroons as they go down 3-7.
