Love you to
the Stars and back tells the story of Mika and Caloy. Mika is a rebellious
daughter as she still couldn’t accept the fact that her mom is already gone and
that she has a new family, meanwhile Caloy who seems to be a fun loving person
has an appalling situation as he hides something behind those smiles.
Mika and
Caloy met by accident, but that accident will bring them to a ride that will
change their lives and their perception about life.
What I love
about this movie is its simplicity, there’s nothing special in the story, but
the way the movie was made, the transition of every scene, and the story
telling this movie became special.
I love how
Direk Tonet crafted this movie, smooth yet there’s a heart and I believe it’s
only her who can pull off a movie with only two or three lead characters only,
but still the movie is very engaging to the audience, plus I love the road trip
element in the movie I felt that I am with them travelling as well, this movie
actually reminds me of Relaks It's Just Pagibig with a more mature take on life.
Having only
two major characters, Julia and Joshua showed their best versions when it comes
to acting in this movie. Joshua had the most difficult scenes in the movie,
every breakout scene were really heavy and Joshua was able to deliver it, he
was able to touch the audiences with his acting prowess, seriously he almost
made me cry.
Julia on
the other hand had her share of memorable scenes, though she didn’t have that
much heavy scenes in the movie she was able to deliver an excellent job, she
was able to portray a very free spirited and sometimes stubborn character of
Mika.
Overall
LYSB is Star Cinema’s best movie so far for me, the movie tells us that along
our journey in life there are people who will come and join us to either teach
us a lesson or changed our lives and that’s what I love about Direk Tonet’s
story telling style from Relaks It’s Just Pag Ibig, That Thing Called Tadhana,
and of course Love You To The Stars And Back.
