The De La Salle University Lady Spikers triumphed in the women's volleyball division of UAAP Season 79 after they swept their bitter rivals Ateneo De Manila University Lady Eagles in the best of three finals.
The Game one went smooth for the Lady Spikers, taking the game in four sets 21-25, 29-27, 25-22, and 25-20. Tin Tiamzon the scoring with 15 points all from spikes followed by Kim Dy with 14 points, on the side of the Lady Eagles Jhoana Maraguinot had 16 points while Bea De Leaon added 14 points.
Going to the game 2 of the finals many expected that the series will go down the line and they weren't disappointed as the two teams slug it out in the five setter finals where the Lady Spikers managed to staged a come from behind 19-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-18, and 15-10 victory to cope their 10th title and getting a back to back championship.
Kim Dy led the scoring for the Lady Spikers in Game 2 with 19 points, Tin Tiamzon added 16 points, while Desiree Cheng scored 12. On the side of the Lady Eagles top scored with 16 points, while Bea De Leon and Jho Maraguinot both added 14 points.
Desiree Cheng was named as the Finals MVP, while Majoy Baron was named Season MVP. Meanwhile Jaja Santiago bagged the Best Scorer, Spiker and Blocker award, Kim Fajardo was named as the Best Setter and Server, Kathleen Arado bagged the Best Digger, Dawn Macandili retained the Best Receiver Award and Juliane Samonte was named as the Rookie of the Year.

In the Men's Division the Ateneo Blue Eagles remained unbeated as they swept the NU Bulldogs to bag a three peat championship after an intense game 1 and game 2. The Game 2 went 18-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13, while game one went 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, and 15-13.
Tony Koyfman bagged the Finals MVP, while Mark Espejo bagged his fourth season MVP plum and the Best Spiker and Best Scorer award. Bryan Bagunas gets the Best Server award,Ricky Marcos gets the Best Digger, Ish Polvoraza was named the best setter, John Paul Bugaoan was named as the Best Blocker, Rikko Marmeto takes the Best Receiver award, Chumason Njigha was named as the Rookie of the Year.
