Bliss
Starring:
Iza Calzado
Directed
By: Jerrold Tarog
Genre:
Suspense-Thriller
The film
tackles the story of Jane, a struggling actress that is on the verge of burning
out from her work. One unfortunate day came in the life of Jane that changed
her life as she had an accident on the set of her movie, from right there
series of bizarre events haunted Jane as she felt like she is trapped in her
own dream and she couldn’t escape it.
Okay I will
try not to spoil the movie, coz the movie is really good it will make you think
and it will surprise you. The story of Bliss unfolds when you get near the end
so make sure that you pay attention to the details of the film from start to
finish for you to understand it better, it’s like a puzzle put into pieces to
tell what the story of the film is.
Bliss is a
movie within a movie, maybe Jerrold Tarog wants his audience to be
psychoanalytic, meaning they need to observe the character of Jane played by
Iza Calzado for them to understand not only the character, but the whole film
per se.
You may
find the movie draggy as the sequence of events will continuously repeat, but
every scene though it looked like it is repeated it always variate and it will
surprise you, well I could say that it’s like Inception with a little bit of
insidious and a little bit of “Before I Go To Sleep” (It was a 2014 movie starring
Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth).
Bliss is a beautiful crafted movie, it is well
written and greatly executed, and all the sequences were all perfectly stitched
together to form a great movie that will play with your thoughts and your
imagination.
When it
comes to the acting department, Iza Calzado left me in awe with how different
she delivered her character in this movie very far from the usual characters
she always portrayed, she really went out literally. You will see Iza Calzado
at her finest and like you’ve never seen her before.
The movie
really has a matured theme, but I think it didn’t deserve the X rating given
before by the MTRCB, it was decent and it’s art this movie isn’t just any bold
films out there this is a movie that the matured movie goers deserves to see.
All in all
this is so far the mind boggling movie I’ve seen this year, the movie may
sometimes leave you at the edge of your seats and will leave you clueless with
what’s happening, but the moment you reach the end and the catharsis there you
will feel and experience Bliss.
